Schuberth R2 helmet in gloss black Product Information

The R2 is a new for 2017 helmet from Schuberth. It fills a gap that has long been a weakness in the German company's helmet line-up. Schuberth has the world's best flip-lid, some incredibly hi-tech sports helmets, and a cracking open-face lid with a unique comms. capability. But until now, Schuberth hasn't had an offering in the mid-priced, full-face naked and touring market. That was until the R2. It's a high-tech helmet very much in the mould of a Schuberth. It has a lightweight, multi-fibre shell. The lining is fast drying and anti-bacterial, and the ventilation is very effective. For the first time on a Schuberh, the cheek pads are quick release. The fastening is by double D ring.

The Schuberth R2 is ready for the SC1 comms. system with extremely easy installation and invisible technology. The unit is slotted into the edge of the helmet to integrate with the already installed speakers and microphone and is completely hidden from view.

There's no doubt about it; the R2 is going to touch a nerve. With its simple, uncluttered design, you can wear it on any bike. It's going to be as quiet as a full-face can be. And it will have a state-of-the-art comms. capability that will allow you to talk using 'bone-technology' rather than a traditional boom.

The one thing we're a little disappointed by is that the R2 does not have a drop-down sun visor. Every other Schuberth helmet does, be it a full-face, open-face or flip-lid, and frankly we're confused as to why the company would go down this route. We've been given various reasons. At one point we were told by the distributor that many people prefer not to have an integrated sun visor in their helmet. Well we, at least, have never heard a customer say this. Normally when a helmet like, say an Arai, doesn't have one it is seen almost universally as a weak point, and a reason not to buy. The issue isn't safety. It's not noise. It's true that without a visor, the shell can be made a touch smaller, but that seems a minor consideration given the lack of a feature that most people find incredibly useful. Whatever the reason, it is what it is. It's going to be a brilliant full-face helmet that you can wear on any bike. You just need to invest in a pair of sunglasses!
