Belstaff’s Riding Jersey is a motorcycle jacket like no other.
We are huge fans, and have sold many thousands in recent years, but it’s not for everyone so we’re going to explain what it is, and what it is not.
In fact, Belstaff described the Riding Jersey as a “cotton fleece with a Polyurethane coating”.
And, of course, technically that is what it is. The coating gives a slightly rubberised feel to the outer material.
The inside is lined with a cotton jersey fabric.
The appearance of the jacket is somewhere between a traditional soft-shell jacket and a leather jacket.
The look is quite appealing, with a soft, vintage feel, not dissimilar to a worn leather.
In terms of styling, of course, the Riding Jersey looks very much like a traditional biking jacket.
There’s Belstaff’s trademark collar fastening, extra padding on the shoulders and elbows, two flap-pockets, and two zip pockets.
So that you can ride in it, the jacket comes with intelligent D3O CE protectors in the elbows and shoulders.
But it would be incorrect to view the Riding Jersey as a proper, fully-functional, all-year-round riding jacket. It is not.
It is a coated fleece with armour.
The appearance is very cool, and you could wear the jacket all day, every day. It’s very smart, and extremely comfortable.
It comes with protectors, as we have said, but the jacket offers very little by the way of protection from the wind and the rain, so its scope is quite limited.
Wear it for short trips around town in the summer. But not when it’s cold or wet.
There is another issue to which we have to draw your attention.
The PU coating is very stretchy and, over time, cracks can be discerned in the outer material.
This is the nature of the fabric, and is totally normal.
Some people do not like this and, as a result, some customers have complained.
But we have to point out that this is a feature of the jacket. Over time, leather cracks. So does this material.
But, in fact, some jackets display this cracking right out of the box. With others, the cracking takes longer to appear. But eventually it will happen.
If you are going to buy the Riding Jersey, you need to accept that this is the way it will age.
Despite the cracking, the jacket will still give you many years of service.
It’s a great jacket that bridges the gap between casual wear and protective wear like nothing else.
We love it, and highly recommend it. In the summer, the Riding Jersey is our favourite go-to piece of riding apparel.
Belstaff Riding Jersey. This jacket has a slim fit. Please note: available sizes for this product are shown above. Sleeve measurements are taken from shoulder to cuff and are actual garment measurements. Please note that sleeves have been designed to compensate for the 2-3 inches they will ride up by when in riding position. Back measurements are taken from the bottom of the collar to the base.

If you can find anything that we sell being offered for more than £5 less than our price, we’ll beat that price by a full 10%.
Let’s give you an example. Say we have a helmet on our website for £350. You find a competitor selling it for £300. Well, if you can prove it, we’ll sell it to you for £270.
It’s that simple, and we reckon it’s the best lowest price guarantee ever.
All you need to do is to provide proof of the lower price. That can be an eBay listing, a website page, or an advertisement in the press. The seller has got to be in the UK and, of course, the goods have to be brand new in the original packaging and so on. We won’t accept, as you might expect, camera phone pictures of an in-store price, or accounts of a conversation that was had with a sales person. The prices we’re beating have to be documented and traceable.
But really that’s it. Phone us with details of the dealer who is discounting. Or send us an email, and we’re in business. So now, there’s never any need to buy from anybody else.
Buy from Motolegends and you will enjoy the industry’s very best service, the very best, most technical and most stylish products. And now the very best prices too.
Oh, and just for good measure, we’ll honour this lowest price guarantee for a full 14 days from the date we despatch your goods to you. A no brainer? We reckon so!
