Spidi Pathfinder cargo pants in tobacco Product Information

The Spidi Pathfinder cargo pant is a lightweight chino with cargo pockets on the thighs.

Made from a cotton and Cordura mix, it is rated A under EN 17092 for abrasion resistance. Now often, on a pant like this, we like to see an AA abrasion rating. It gives that extra reassurance. Knowing what the Pathfinders are made from, we can state with some confidence that these will not be the most protective pants money can buy. They are no Rokkers. But the fabric used on the Pathfinder still passes at the AA level. And this we know because it is the same fabric as the one that Spidi uses on a similar pant they make for Ducati. (We have the two certificates on file). But with the Pathfinder Spidi decided to remove the hip armour from the package to bring it in below 200 Euros. And when you don't supply hip armour, a pant can only be classified at the single A level. That Spidi should do this seems crazy to us, but Spidi knows its home market better than we do, so who are we to argue?

The Pathfindert is going to be as easy to wear as any chino. It's a cliché we know, but take the armour out, and it would pass for the kind of pant you could pick up on the high street.

In terms of detail, you get two jean pockets, two cargo pockets, and two zipped compartments that house the armour. And what this means is that, if you want, you can remove the armour from the outside whenever you get to your destination; whether that be work or, say, a restaurant. The knee armour is Spidi's standard Warrior Lite armour. We like it; it might not be D3O, but it's still very flexible. And it's much larger than D3O. The optional hip armour is also quite huge, but you will still barely feel that it's there. And, truth be told, we would be minded to add the hip armour. And that's because, in our view, hip armour comes in to play far more often in an accident than does knee armour.

The pants fit pretty slim. Not super slim. They're not boy band. But let's just say they're probably going to work better with short, motorcycle boots than with tall ones.

And so that's the Pathfinders. For riding around town, or for a Sunday ride-out, they'd be perfect. For high-speed motorway work, there are probably better options.
