Motolegends Woollen Rollneck in navy Product Information

When the war broke out in 1939, it quickly became apparent that there was a shortage of basic-issue clothing for all branches of the services. And that some of it was simply not up to the job. A little more than a year after the commencement of hostilities, a set of guidelines, called the Warnorm, was issued so that volunteer groups could hand-knit sweaters, jumpers, and other woollen essentials for the armed forces. Women's groups, Knitting Circles, Comforts Committees, and even schoolchildren, were encouraged to do their part for the war effort. The sweaters were supplied to all branches of the military; the Army, the Navy, and the RAF. We have recreated these jumpers as faithfully as we could, using five-ply wool, to the original pattern. Although we have to report that our version is not hand-knitted by schoolchildren.

Please note: Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. Do not use biological detergents. May be dry cleaned.

Miss E: Perfect winter jumper

Bought as a present for my mum! She loves it for winter walking and to wear in her chilly studio. Perfect longer length and not too tight neck. Shes happy

Vicki: Excellent knitwear

I actually bought this for someone else but then decided to keep it for myself! I can vouch for the quality. Its really well made in a plain, classic style the fit is generous but not bulky. I have worn it quite a few times and its warm, comfy and not itchy like inferior quality wool jumpers. I would definitely recommend it - and you couldnt hand-knit one of these for this price.

David Glover: Best polo neck ever

Ive had 4 of these excellent jumpers now and really cant fault them.I wear them all the time in the winter and can testify to the warmth and comfort they provide. Theyre stylish too in an old school, jazz artisan kinda way! Hardwearing and durable just remember to always wash on a wool only setting!

Edward Hardcastle: Love it

A quality wool jumper. Warm and soft. Cant wait to treat myself to another one next year.

Felix Machalek: Top

Warm and cuddly best British quality.
