Bell Bullitt helmet in gloss black (RFX002)
Product InformationThe Bell Bullitt is without doubt the most stylish helmet in the world of motorcycling. It was born out of a student's design project. Bell saw the designs, and put the helmet into production. With its astronaut-style, domed shape and large visor, the Bell Bullitt has a real classic look, but in its use of materials and technology the helmet is bang up to date; very much what we would call a modern classic. If there is a weakness to the Bell Bullitt, it is the fit. It does not fit everybody, although changing the cheek pads can improve the chances of making it work. We would also say that the Bell Bullitt would not be our first choice for commuting or long distance touring. Rather, it is a terrific-looking weekend helmet for showing off and posing!
The detailing on the Bullitt helmet is superb, from the meshed air intakes to the luxurious leather inner. We love the full face visor with wide peripheral vision that can moved to the open position really easily. The Bell Bullitt is ECE 22.05 Euro Safety Rated, road legal in the UK and Europe.

Had this for a couple of months, and the comments regarding the wind/whistle are fair. However, as with all helmets, buy one that fits you head and suits your riding. The assistants in the shop make it very clear that this is not an 'everyday' modern helmet, it is for people that want a certain look when riding for pleasure. Probably not the best for day to day commuting, if you want the retro look for leisure riding, without the risk of loosing the ability to eat, then a great choice. If it does not fit your head, there are others such as the Blauer and Premier Trophy helmets that are full face retro as well. (for me, I came for a premier trophy and found it did not fit at all, so went for the bell).

SUN... this helmet gives you all the joys of riding with an open face helmet but you have the piece of mind that your jaw is protected. At high speeds, look over your shoulder and the wind will catch the helmet and give you a fight when turning back. If your buying this just to ride in nice weather the odd weekend with the visor on or off. You will probably enjoy the helmet. WIND... It will whistle with the visor off. It will wistle louder than that with it on, depending on wind direction it will go up and down. Wind will come up under the helmet. The jaw is about 2cm thick and is out far from your face, so there is alot of room for wind to cut up in there. SIZING... was an issue for me. Small was a struggle to get on and was painfull to leave on. Medium has too much room. I have went for the larger set of cheek pads, not much improvement. RAIN Light rain, your alright. Heavy rain, a few times I have had water run down the inside of the visor due to the chrome trim being the only thing holding it back at the top of the visor. The little bit of leather at the top will soak up rain and run adding to the issue. The helmet looks cool. Great fun in the sun. If you are a daily rider going to and from work, rain or shine...this may not be the helmet for you. I had to take the helmet out on the road for a few months to discover this. If i could, I would return it but Im stuck paying it off. Dont make the same mistake I did.

i bought my Bell Bullitt last year at the NEC Motorcycle show so have owned it for around 9 months. I went for the gloss bLack with brown interior as I felt it was the best looking of the Bullitts available at that time... After 9 months I have to say I have mixed feelings about the helmet. On the plus side it is without doubt the coolest looking helmet I have ever seen and often gets admiring comments. The helmet looks like a quality piece of kit however looks can be deceiving. The coat of gloss black paint is so thin and it scratches very easily. I am always careful to clean the helmet after each ride however it has scratches across the top of the visor were it has rubbed against the helmet when opened and closed exposing the white underneath. I have found the screws either side of the helmet that hold the visor in place have a habit of coming loose and need tightening after most trips... One of the benefits of this helmet is the large appiture, when on its almost like wearing an open face helmet but their is a r Price to pay. With the visor up and speeds over 40 mph the slip stream over the visor causes a whistle so loud it makes your ears hurt. Put the visor down and it's so drafty your ayes water and you wonder if you've left the thing up. Size was an issue for me too. My head measures 61.5cm to be exact. The XL is a 60-61 and XXL 62-63 so I was between sizes. Both helmets felt extremely tight when I initially tried them. I went for an XL hoping it would give but after a couple of days wearing it around the house I decided the vice like grip and headaches were too much. Luckily the supplier exchanged the helmet for an XXL. After 9 months I've broken the helmet in. Imaybe I don't have the right shape head for the Bullitt as I find it sits very low on my temple pushing down on my eye brows to the point where I can't wear sun glasses with this helmet as the brow of the helmet sits on and pushes down on the glasses... After saying all this I still reached for the Bullitt over the other helmets I own, because it just looks so cool on and compliments the type of bikes I own, or at least that was the case until recently when I became the proud owner of a new Davida 92 in Matt black! I can use one word to describe how I feel about this helmet and its "Awsome' Bought the XL and it fits like a glove. Stays securely on my head at what ever speed I travel at and oozes quality. And best of all its BRITISH !
