I bought this for the Carlsbad jacket as it does not comes with one as standard, and as there are no waist strap adjusters its a necessity. It helps to keep the jacket fitted to the body and prevent any flapping around. It also helps to spread the weight of the jacket across the rest of the body. The adjustable nature of it also helps to fit the jacket to any layers being worn underneath
