Richa Ghent GTX gloves in black Product Information

The Richa Ghent GTX glove is a rare commodity in the world of motorcycling gloves. It is a full-on winter glove with a short cuff. Normally a winter glove has a longer cuff; a summer glove will have a shorter one. But if you simply prefer riding in short gloves, the Ghent is a glove that is going to allow you to do so through the winter. For warmth, the Ghent uses both Thinsulate and Primaloft. The waterproofing comes courtesy of Gore-Tex, and in this instance the waterproof and windproof membrane is bonded to the leather to prevent the glove from wetting out. The main knuckle is covered by a D30 soft protector. The palm consists of overlaps of leather for added abrasion resistance. The back of the hand features more of a textile material that is known as Nyspan. Concertina stretch bands at the tops of the fingers allow for easier articulation. You also get small protectors on the minor finger joints. A visor wipe is built into the left, index finger. The problem with most short gloves is that the wrist closure allows cold air to pass into the hand, but the Ghent has a really nice ribbed cuff for added draft exclusion. Is this the most wintry glove on the market? No, but if you want a short, warm and waterproof glove your options are limited. If these are your criteria then, yes, the Richa Ghent is probably the best.

Philip: Great short cuff for mild winter riding

Excellent glove for fitting underneath the jacket sleeves. The gloves have kept more hand warm a 2hrs plus journeys and kept the rain out as expected of Gore-Tex. You can also feel the heat from the heated grips when switched on. All in all an excellent glove and very comfortable for me, only draw back as previously mentioned is the small length of Velcro that has a knack of sliding out of their metal guide when pulling the last glove on. Very frustrating

Niklas: Fantastic hot or cold

These are my second pair of their gloves, destroyed the first pair in a crash they did keep hands safe! and they are really worth the money. Easy to get on and off, the fit is perfect for me and really do the job during hot and sweaty rides, and the cold ones too. The waterproofing does actually work and keeps the hands dry, cant recommend them enough

Richard: Unusual gloves - in a good way!

I bought these online following a recommendation from Motorlegends. I have a number of different gloves but I was looking for a short winter glove - mainly for use as a blood biker where I find I am constantly taking my gloves on and off,. The short gloves make that easier and quicker, but the wrist extension ensure the hands stay warm on the bike. I have worn these gloves in torrential rain and temperatures down to about 5 centigrade. The blood bike has heated grips and I found these gloves work very well with the grips as there is not too much padding insulation on the palms. At motorway speeds, I found the gloves kept my hands warm at anything above about 7 degrees. Below that, I think a more substantial winter glove is needed. So why not 5 stars? Two small downsides - in my opinion. Firstly, the gloves are a bit stiff across the back, which makes them slightly less comfortable than some others, although this seems to be improving with time. Secondly, the velcro straps have a tendency to slide out of their keepers, which is a small inconvenience at worst. Overall, I'm very happy with these gloves which work well for my needs.
