Rukka Nivala GTX gloves in black

The Rukka Nivala glove is an outstanding 2 / 3 season glove. It is pretty much all leather, with added layers on the palm and fingers, as required. The glove has a reasonably long cuff that is very much designed to go under the sleeve of a jacket. It will work fine with any GTX cuff. To keep the glove in place, there are Velcro® straps at the wrist and cuff. For comfort, the Nivala glove features accordion stretch panels behind carbon knuckle protector and in the thumb. 3M Scotchlite™ bands across the back of the hand, on the cuff, and on the index finger aid nighttime visibility. The two little fingers are banded together with a leather strap to stop you doing a Troy Bayliss. In terms of protection, there’s a large, carbon protector on the main knuckle. You also get a palm slider and a soft pad over the scaphoid bone. A synthetic overlay has been sewn into the palm, firstly to improve grip, but also to help prevent the thumb from being pushed back by the bars in an accident. One nice touch is that the fingers feature external seams for added comfort. Waterproofing comes courtesy of Gore-Tex®. Thermal protection is delivered by means of an Outlast® lining. Now given how heat transfers around an Outlast membrane, these gloves are going to work particularly well with heated grips. The index finger on these gloves is touchscreen sensitive, although the thumb is not. On the left index finger you also get a useful visor wipe. There probably are, in extremis, warmer gloves out there, and if you often find yourself commuting in near zero degree temperatures, there are other gloves you might want to look at. But for most people, especially for those with bikes equipped with heated grips, these gloves are going to be more than up to the job. But Outlast is relatively lightweight, so wearing these gloves on all but the very warmest days is also going to be fine. The Rukka Nivala gloves have got all the bells and whistles you would want, and of course they come with the brand’s much deserved reputation for quality. This really is an outstanding glove that also happens to be supremely comfortable to wear.
