Product description
The Spidi Defender back and chest protector combines the need to protect these two vulnerable areas with the need for comfort to produce a fantastic safety device. Spidi has asked us to point out that this protector passes the CE certification programme at the highest Level 2 category. We don't have the space to go into the test methodology, but to pass Level 2, the required value of residual energy must not exceed 9KN. Now that doesn't mean that much to us, but what is impressive is that Spidi's protector has an average shock absorbing factor of just 7.8KN. That's got to be reassuring. The other big thing for Spidi is comfort. If a protector isn't comfortable, it won't be worn. The Spidi protector has an air-flow system that improves air flow by about 50% over an average protector. The result is an easy to use and wear system that you can use on the longest journeys, in the knowledge that you're as well protected as you possibly can be on two wheels. In terms of sizing, there are four different lengths that are dependant upon your height. Each of these then comes in M & L. Medium is for slimmer sorts and Large is for those with tummies. EN 1621-1/97 - CE standard for limb protectors
One standard of certification, no levels defined. Average transmitted force must be less than or equal to 35 kN.
EN1621-2/03 - CE standard for back protectors
2 Levels of protection classified - Level 1 and Level 2. To pass at Level 1 the average transmitted force must be less than or equal to 18 KN. To pass at Level 2 the average transmitted force must be less than or equal to 9 kN.
The lower kN score the better the shock absorption and protection.
