Product Information

The Nivala is Rukka's new top-of-the-range suit that effectively replaces the Armas. Like the Armas, it is the most expensive outfit in their textile line up.

The new suit used all the same technology that you find in all the company's other laminate suits, but there's a much greater emphasis on comfort and livability. The outer shell, as you would expect, is a three-layer Gore-Tex Pro, so you're not going to get wet, and the suit will dry out rapidly. But on the Nivala the outer shell contains some stretch so it's a lot easier to wear than Rukka's other laminated products.

In order to help you manage your temperature, Rukka have changed the way the jacket and trousers are laminated.

Basically, the thermal insulation comes from a separately worn inner down jacket and trousers that do not attach to the outer garments. You carry them both in little pouches, and wear them only when it's really cold. This means that there's less likelihood of overheating; a possibility that is ever present in most other Rukka pieces.

The other area in which the Nivala signals a departure from the past is in it's approach to ventilation, with vents on the shoulders and two long two-way zips up the flanks.

Of course, in all other material ways, the Nivala jacket and trousers are just like any other Rukka suit.

On the jacket you get extensive use of Armacor panels for extra abrasion resistance, and all the armour is CE approved, including the included chest protector. The main zip is a waterproof YKK Aqual Seal zip. You get GTX cuffs, volume adjusters on the sleeves, waterproof pockets, neoprene in the collar, a Gore-Tex neck protector, and so on.

It's pretty much the same kind of story with the trousers. In addition, there's Rukka's AntiGlide systems in th seat, leather patches inside the knees, vents on the thighs, adjusters and waterproof pockets.

Obviously the trousers can be attached to the jacket by zipping them together.

Overall, we have to say that we are both impressed and delighted. Impressed because it is also that Rukka has been listening to its critics. Without any compromise as far as protection is concerned, the company has developed a new pairing that is going to be much nicer to wear than anything that has gone before.

Delighted because Rukka has chosen Motolegends to launch the suit exclusively in the UK.

Come and see it for yourself. We thing you'll be rather impressed.
