Falco Arrakis boots in brown Product Information

The Falco Arrakis is right on message. The latest trend in motorcycle boots is known a ‘bike and hike’, and it’s about boots that you can ride the bike in, and then trek up a hill in. Not sure whether Klim got there first, or whether Icon did. But both companies produce boots that are very similar in execution. In truth, the Klim Outlander is the better, more robust boot. It incorporates D3O protectors, and a Gore-Tex waterproof membrane, so it’s got all the best components. The Icon Stormhawk is a similar boot. In the margin, it’s not quite up there, but it does the same job, and it is somewhat less expensive.
The Falco is another take on the same theme. It certainly has a similar profile, although it’s perhaps a little less like a walking boot than the Icon and the Klim, but it’s still more an adventure boot than anything else.
The boot has a higher shaft the extends way above the ankles. You get a really solid toe box with a reinforced gearchange pad. There are D3O pucks in the ankles. And a hardened counter in the heel. Pretty sure that there’s no genuine leather in these boots, but all the fabrics look strong and durable. The main chassis of the boot is interspersed with breathable inserts to help your feet stay cool. There’s padding at the top of the shaft for walking comfort. The tongue of the boot is also heavily padded. The sole is, apparently, dual compound, but it doesn’t have an off-road tread, which suggests that this is an adventure boot that is aimed firmly at the road rider. There’s some reflective material in the heel, but what we really like are the two ‘ribbon’ pulls that will make it is easier to get the boots on.
The waterproof membrane is one known as High Tex. It’s not Gore-tex, but we rarely have any issues with the waterproofing on a Falco boot.
Of course, the most distinguishing feature on the Arrakis is its BOA-like wind-wire system. We are seeing this more often on motorcycle boots, and it makes a lot of sense. It’s quick and easy to use. It makes getting boots on and off so easy. It enables you to dial in a much more precise fit. The laces don’t wear out. And you don’t end up with dangling laces.
All in all, this feels like a rugged and dependable boot. Falco’s boots seem to fit well, and the best ones, like the Ranger, are supremely comfortable. We can see the Arrakis becoming very popular, despite a name that makes it sound like a failed American presidential candidate!
The price also seems pretty reasonable.
