Motorcycle Base Layers

Wearing the correct base layers is one of the most important things to do when you are motorcycling. Too often customers spend a lot of money on a decent suit and then ruin it by wearing a cotton T-shirt! Base layers need to be a proper breathable material so they help you regulate your body temperature.  It is about keeping warm in winter, keeping cool in summer, allowing your body sweat to evaporate effectively and allowing your expensive suit to do its job properly. Even in winter sweat needs to escape to keep the body dry. And this is crucial because if you are wet on the inside, and the temperature drops further our bodies will lose heat 20 times faster through a wet environment than a dry one. The base layer is a building block in winter on top of which you need a technical mid layer.

Klim Zephyr Wind shirt in blue

Simon: Does what it says on the tin

The Zephyr is thin, light and compact and absolutely works as a wind stopping mid layer. It allows me to extend the use of my also excellent Marrakesh jacket in cooler temperatures by several degrees. Perfect for those early mornings or evenings when the temperature has dropped but you need the benefits of the Marrakesh when the temperature is warmer during the daytime.

Moto Skiveez ladies in black

Bill: Does the biz

Done 2000 miles in 2 weeks in them. The last time I did this mileage I had saddle sore for 2 weeks. Had the expected muscle soreness from sitting in the seat for so long but no saddle sore. Dont recommend wearing knickers under them, the seams caused a little chafing, not the faultof the skivees.

Halvarssons Dry Wind sweater base layer in black

Barry Davy: A good buy

Fits well, feels comfortable, a reasonable price and does the job its supposed to.
