Shoei JO helmet in matt silver
Bought this in the sale as I wanted an open face for occasional use, but couldnt justify the cost. Very happy with the helmet, it fits me snuggly and does the job.
Schuberth J2 helmet in Sigma blue
I have long seen the benefits and shortcomings of open-face helmets and when my last one died of old age it was time to look for another... I was aware Schuberth were launching their new J2 and it was looking like a two-horse race between that and the Shoei J-Cruise 3. For a number of reasons, the Schuberth appealed to me, mainly the fact it was closely based upon their existing C5 flip-front helmet, which I already own and Im really pleased with. The excellent video presentation on the J2 by Chris helped me decide. Another plus for the J2 is the fact I could fairly easily swap my Schuberth SC2 comms system between the two Schuberth helmets. A five-minute job at most. Thus far I have only used the J2 once on a 120-mile ride, and Ive got to say Im very pleased with it. It oozes quality. The attention to detail is excellent and its as comfortable as my C5, although a little noisier, but as Chris explained in his video, those three decibels can make all the difference! The great advantage from my point of view is the greater field of view provided by the bigger visor and the much freer airflow on hot days. I entirely accept the fact open-face helmets dont provide the facial protection afforded by full-face and flip-front helmets, although there is perhaps a degree of compromise with the removable chin bar on the J2. The chin bar is much narrower than those on full-face and flip-front helmets, and the fact it isnt a permanent fixture doesnt fill me huge confidence in terms of protection should the worst happen. Yes, open-face helmets like the Schuberth J2 and the Shoei J-Cruise 3 present greater risks than full-face and flip-front helmets, but hey the greatest risk we take is simply getting on a bike in the first place. If youre up for an open-face helmet I can thoroughly recommend the Schuberth J2, and of course Motolegends for their superb customer service. Thank you...
Schuberth C5 / E2 / S3 neck pads
Arrived on time, Packaged well, the pad did exactly as I hoped and took the pressure off my forehead without making the helmet lose 57 size medium. This pad obviously fits other helmets is very easy to fit took about a minute.
