Rukka Kalix 2.0 jacket in black

The Kalix 2.0 is an evolution of its predecessor: the Kalix. But so different and so much better is the new version that we believe it was a mistake to even give it the same name. The old Kalix was a stiff and uncomfortable, 3-layer, Pro-Shell laminated jacket with no bells and whistles; not even venting. We did not like it and declined to offer it. It was not nice to wear and, furthermore, in our view it was over priced. Whilst similar in concept, the new version shows how simple but significant changes can totally transform the wearability of a garment. The new Kalix 2.0 is now a 2-layer, Performance Shell jacket. This makes it much easier to wear and much more comfortable, yet it still comes with a six-year warranty,(on registration). Importantly, it now has venting that is better than any jacket in the Rukka range, with the exception of the off-road oriented Kallavesi. Rukka has achieved great things with this jacket, and they have done so whilst managing to lower the price. Of course, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, so the new Kalix is missing some parts; namely a thermal liner and a back protector. But both of these are easy fixes. And we take the view that not having what would have undoubtedly been nothing more than an average thermal liner in a jacket at this price point leaves the way open for the rider to implement his own preferred solution. We have come to the conclusion that, at the top end of the market, there is nothing that can match the Rukka Nivala for wearability. At just half the price of the Nivala, there is now nothing to match the Kalix 2.0 either!
