Product Information

The Belstaff Trialmaster is, of course, an old favourite. It's a classic, belted, four pocket jacket based very closely on the style of jacket that was made popular by trials riders in the fifties and sixties. It was worn by factory test riders as well as competition riders like Sammy Miller and Bud Edkins. Steve McQueen often wore a Belstaff like this although not, obviously, on the 1964 ISDT, when he wore a Barbour. Che Guevara also famously wore a Trialmaster on his South American adventure that was written about in his famous Motorcycle Diaries.

This jacket is made from heavy duty 10 ounce British Millerain wax cotton and incorporates a waterproof, seam-sealed membrane made from a material known as Miporex. The outer layer is wax cotton which is water resistant but not really waterproof, and whilst no motorcycle jacket can ever lay claim to being 100% waterproof, the Trialmaster 2.0 is undoubtedly an improvement over its predecessor.

Inside the jacket, you get the de rigueur tartan or plaid lining, and the collar and cuffs are lined with corduroy for extra comfort. The sleeves are lightly padded for warmth but, to keep the riders body warm, there's a heavy-duty 150 gramme, quilted Micro-Valtherm gilet that can be unzipped for summer riding. When it comes to protection, the Trialmaster 2.0 has the very latest CE approved D3O armour in the shoulders and elbows; this armour is light and very malleable, yet it becomes super tough on impact. There’s a pocket in the back for a back protector, which we can supply to the Level 1 or the Level 2 standard (Level 2 is thicker and heavier, obviously).

All the pockets on the jacket have waterproof flaps. You get an internal pocket. The neck and cuffs are adjustable, and the shoulders and elbows both have quilted patches over the base wax cotton outer for added abrasion resistance.

All in all, it’s a cracking piece. Yes, it’s more expensive than the old version but it is, without doubt, a better, more technical, more wearable and more protective item of motorcycle apparel. For a more detailed size chart, please see here

This jacket is also known as the Belstaff Tourist Trophy jacket and is part of the Belstaff Pure Motorcycle Collection.

pete hodgkiss: Product Review

Hi I've been a motorcyclist since 1965 and had a trials master jacket which i loved and wore everyday on and off the bike & cost £25 i.e. 5 weeks wages so i don't think that around £500 is too dear so i have just received my new jacket it is much better than the original ones . not as oily. it has a drip strip around the bottom edge to stop the rain wicking up the lining which was a problem back then and much more furniture friendly. i have in the past spent more than this on harley davidson jackets i also have a barbour international which compared to this is like a wax shirt. buy one you won't be disappointed i promise. And the service from Motolegends is unbeatable. What free next day delivery in this day and age. A fantastic jacket from a 1st class dealer thanks motolegends

John Gulliver: Product Review

Great jacket and I love wearing it. But the non-removable sleeve insulation makes it hot in summer months. At this price they should snap out along with the body liner. I've had much cheaper jackets which do this v well.

Paul Kirkham: Belstaff Trailmaster Jacket.

Waited a while for my size to become available. Once order it was delivered promptly. Jacket was as good as I expected it to be. Really pleased with my purchase.
