Rukka Nivala jacket in black / silver Product Information

When it comes to laminates, Rukka are probably the masters. They were offering laminate outfits way before anybody really knew what a laminated membrane was. They have developed the technology in concert with Gore, and nobody has more expertise when it comes to getting a laminated jacket or pant to work. Their best suit is, predictably, their most expensive suit. It is the Nivala. With stretch woven into the Gore-tex Pro Shell outer, it is more comfortable than a laminated garment has a right to be. Its fantastic, genuine duck down inner jacket also makes it one of the warmest jackets on the market. Of course, all the other stuff is pure Rukka. It's superbly made, and is backed with the company's six-year warranty. The problem for Rukka, frankly, is that all their other suits feel a bit clunky in comparison. They may be a bit cheaper, but try on the Nivala and compare. You’ll soon realise why it's worth the extra few quid. Okay, quite a few extra quid!

Rated as one of our top 10 motorcycle touring suits.

Ant: Top Notch

What a fantastic jacket! Straight out of the box comfort, good fit, feels bombproof and with the amour included, I now feel as safe as ever, I completely understand why there are so many good reviews for this jacket. Not been out in a downpour as yet but I have no doubt it will live up to expectations. Megan at Motolegends was on hand to advise on my purchase and saved me money by advising correctly rather than just trying to make the sale - take note other companies! If I was to add one small criticism is that on the continent, Rukka offer different colours to their range of jackets, shame we do not get that in the UK as it would nice to have other choices than black for the Rukka Nivla.

Abe Hills: Just what I needed

The only kit Ive ever had that does the job. Absolute extortionate with respect to the price, by comparison, but a fantastic jacket.

Iain: Incredibly comfortable and beautifully made

Believe the hype. The Nivala jacket is a wonderful piece of motorcycle clothing. Incredibly comfortable, beautifully made, brilliant level of adjustment, works really well - started off this morning at 2C with the down liner in, back at lunchtime at 17C, vents closed and just as comfortable. The material is undoubtedly expensive but clearly very breathable - warm when you need it but seems to regulate heat very well. I'm hugely impressed and pleased with this jacket.

Colin: Very happy

Superb piece of kit, and over 6 years it is really good value. I do a lot of touring/camping and a laminate is much nicer the next morning after a downpour. Recently well tested in Wales...excellent.

Alasdair Denton-Miller: Tip-Top Textile Jacket

I waited a few months to review this jacket and have now been all over Europe in in in both wet and dry conditions. It's worked perfectly so far. Keeps me bone dry in a downpour (although if you're not careful you will get wet at the neck and hands if you put it on and take it off in the rain - but that's to be expected). The cut is excellent and the stretch fabric allows you to move properly without feeling like you are wearing a carpet like lots of other Rukka jackets. It keeps you warm when it's cold by using the down liner, and it keeps you fairly cool even when it's pretty damn hot by using the vents. If you don't want to buy the whole suit, just get the jacket and use a pair of Rokker Revolution waterproof jeans and a set of merino leggings and you will be toasty warm and bone dry whatever the weather. I can't think of any negatives really - apart from the initial investment cost!

Mike Denning: Mr

My first laminated suit and I will not be going back to leather! This suit is simply brilliant. A great fit and comfortable to wear even if you choose to use the puffer suit underneath. It feels like a real clothing ‘system’. For day to day commuting, around 45 minutes each way, I never even consider wearing a waterproof and never get wet. At the end of a wet day, the laminated gortex is already dry and ready to go again! In winter, I have ridden at -4 Celsius and didn’t feel cold at all. It makes riding in those temperatures a real pleasure. Is it worth the money? It is rudely expensive but I now realise that it definitely is worth the money but you need to assess your riding habits and decide if you need this level of protection? You may find that a far cheaper suit is ideal for you but if you daily commute throughout the year then this is an investment you won’t regret!

Deyan ILIEV: MR

Tried it at -3 Celsius over 70 mph for more then an hour along with rukka three fingers gloves and really enjoyed the ride didn't get cold good job rukka worth every penny
