Held Torno Evo pants in black Product Information

This is the lower half that matches with a jacket called the Carese Evo. Put together, the end result is what we would call a proper, adventure-cum-off-road suit. And we say this because a proper adventure suit comes with a removable waterproof inner. Only when you have this will you have a garment that is breathable enough to be worn in the hottest conditions.

One of the things that makes the Held Carese Evo so special is that the liner is a Gore-Tex one. Obviously, many consider Gore to be the producer of the best membrane, but what is unique about this one is that it can be worn inside or outside the main pant. The latter would be the preferred option in heavy and prolonged rain, to prevent wetting out.

The Torno Evo pant is made from a 500 denier Cordura, which is just about right for a garment that is going to be worn both on and off the road. There are Gore-tex stretch panels at the rear of the waist band, in the crotch and behind the knees for comfort. To the same end, the pants come with concertina stretch panels on the knees. There’s an adjuster belt at the waist. At the bottom of the legs you get a long zip and two Velcro fasteners. You can fit just about any boot inside the leg.

One of the key features of an adventure pant is the venting. Once the waterproof liner has been removed, air will flow through the Cordura fabric very easily. But the two cargo-style pockets can also be unzipped to reveal mesh panels. These will further enhance airflow, obviously.

Protection-wise, the Held Torno pants come fitted with D3O in the knees and hips. There’s also a pocket for an optional coccyx protector. On the knees, there are panels of SuperFabric for additional abrasion resistance. There’s also a panel of Kangaroo leather in the bum for the same purpose. And you get leather panelling up the inside of the legs, although these are more for holding on to the bike than for protection, per se.

Most of the other stuff is detail, albeit important detail. Let’s briefly run through it. An Outlast-like lining called 37.5 in certain areas. Four external pockets, of which two double as vents, as outlined above. Buttons for optional braces. 3M Scotchlite reflectors. Connecting zip. And so on.

You need to understand what this suit is. It is for adventure riding, off or on road, but in both scenarios the implication is that the temperatures will be high. This is not, in its natural state, a suit you would wear in the winter, or for all-year-round commuting. By supplementing either half of the suit with an additional waterproof outer and a good thermal solution, however, you could indeed turn this outfit into something that would be just about perfect in all situations. But if this is the route you go down, you should perhaps look at the black version. We don’t hold that version in stock, but can easily obtain it.

The Held Carese and Torno Evo suit makes for one of the most impressive and highly detailed off-road suits we have ever come across. We have not worked with Held for long, but we are starting to come to the view that the Held brand is one of the motorcycle apparel world’s best kept secrets. If you are looking for a proper adventure outfit, this is one you should look at.
