Rukka Nivala 2.0 GTX glove in black Product Information
The Nivala 2 is what we would term a lightweight winter glove. It has a huge and impressive spec., but there are gloves that will keep your hands warmer. Often winter gloves will have a textile back with a leather palm, but the Nivala 2 is all-leather. Some people prefer this, and of course over time the leather will give. Leather is more protective, but in heavy rain leather will absorb moisture.
Not that the Nivala 2 will absorb a lot of rain, as the membrane comes courtesy of Gore-Tex. For added warmth in cold weather, you get a fleecy lining, but also Outlast. Now Outlast is more of a temperature regulator than an outright insulator, but it can be very effective, and works particularly well with heated grips.
As far as protection is concerned, there’s a D3O style protector on the main knuckle. You get small protectors also on the minor knuckles. On the palm, there’s a slider, but also a scaphoid protector.
There’s a lot going on with this glove, so it may not be immediately comfortable for all. But there are concertina stretch panels on the back of the hand and on the thumb. You get reflective banding on the fingers and at the wrist. At the wrist, there are two means of closure. A Velcro strap at the wrist, and a Velcro flap for the cuff.
The two little fingers are strapped together, Troy Bayliss style. The index fingers on both hands are touchscreen sensitive; and on the left hand you get a visor wipe.

Simon Johnson: Check the fit....
They get a 5 for build quality, no doubt, these are beautiful gloves. In every other glove I own Im a 10, and these felt snug when I put them on, the movement of the thumbs in particular felt restricted. I assumed the gloves would give. I then happened to go to infinity for some chain lube and noticed they had some gloves in stock in an 11 which I tried, they were probably the better size across the palm but the fingers were too long. My conclusion, well, I guess they are made for a slimmer hand. Ive been wearing them daily and Im hoping they, like a pair of Churchs shoes, mould to my hand.... I hope so, they are beautiful gloves... but check for the size first, slim palms and you should be good, wider hands may go up a size... try for fit first...
Martin K: Novels 2.0 GTX
Great gloves. Outrageously expensive of course but I find so much dedicated motorcycle gear to be so. I am prone to cold hands and I wanted great gloves that would work with my heated grips and these do the trick without the faff of heated gloves. Nicely made and I justify the price by telling myself that my hands are worth it!
Kevin Cartwright: Nivala 2 GTX Gloves
After a very wet trip to Scotland this year I have decided to gradually invest in a full Rukka outfit. With colder weather here I decided to start with the gloves. First impression of these is that they are absolutely the best when it comes to build quality and materials used. I bought a size 11 which in the two other pairs of Rukka gloves I own are a perfect fit. These feel much more restrictive, so much so that simply stretching my thumb to the indicator controls is difficult. I genuinely think they will soften up and I prefer my gloves to be a snug fit so will persevere and use these for absolutely everything I can to break them in. In the absence of ownership time to give these a full and fair review Id say they are brilliant quality and offer high levels of protection and warmth. Ill update on the breaking in process at a later date.
