Belstaff Long Way Up McGregor leather trousers Product Information
For their latest motorcycling adventure, Ewan McGregor chose to ride in a heavy-duty wax cotton jacket and a leather pant. A challenging combination, in our view, but film stars always need to look their best on camera.
And whilst we would never undertake such an arduous trek in a pair of leather trousers, we do like them. And we like them because they represent a type of riding trouser that it’s hard to find these days. In the olden days, every biker had a pair of pants like these; basically, a jean made from leather. As a pant they’re pretty simple. There’s not a lot of fancy detailing involved. They’ve got a straight leg, armour, some stretch at the knees and zips up the legs; and that’s about it. It doesn’t get much plainer or simpler. The one thing we would say is that they taper quite tightly to the ankle, so you could wear them with short boots or inside taller ones.

Paul: Great for Ewan, maybe not great for all
I wanted a pair of leather trousers that werent pre-curved or track-focused and when these were reduced in price I thought I would try them. I am a 34-waist but I had to return and go for a 36. The waist fitted fine on the 34 but because the trouser is designed on the skinny side, the leg and thigh were too tight so consider this when buying. The pocket for the knee armour was also poorly installed but with some velcro and a bit of a rejig, I think this is sorted now. Perfect pants for a day on the bike, but if youre going to long way anywhere, I would say look around and research a little, there are probably better alternatives, but if they are reduced and on sale - try them
Stuart: Great product - happy customer
Definitely a premium pant, soft and supple out of the bag. Very comfortable and they look great. They fit quite small compared to standard sizing, so you might want to go one size up I had to send mine back for a replacement. If youve got chunky legs youll almost certainly need to upsize. Leg zip opens for allow to go over your boots, but only comfortably if youve got ankle boots. Anything approaching an adventure boot then its a tuck in. Overall very happy with the pants and would recommend them.
