Winter Motorcycle Jackets
Riding through the winter places very different demands on a motorcycle jacket. Staying warm matters, but keeping the wind and rain out is just as important. A proper winter motorcycle jacket will normally have a waterproof membrane, effective insulation and enough room underneath for additional layers when temperatures really drop.
Textile jackets tend to work particularly well in poor weather, while laminated constructions can be better in prolonged rain because the outer fabric absorbs less water. Look for good coverage at the neck, waist and cuffs too, as these are the areas where cold air and water can find their way in.
The best winter jacket is ultimately one that keeps you warm and dry without restricting movement, so you can concentrate on the road rather than the weather. And for us, that probably means something like a Rukka jacket or a Halvarssons jacket. Both coming from Scandinavian countries, they are fit for purpose to protect you from proper British winter weather.
