Robin: A decent winter glove for sensible money...
I have long found winter gloves very bulky and I much prefer the tactility of summer weight gloves, which provide far better feel on the controls of the bike. The obvious trade off in the winter months is colder hands, even on a bike equipped with both heated grips and handguards. The older I get the more it seems to affect me, particularly the back of my hands and fingertips, so time to bite the bullet... The review provided by Chris suggested the Richa Nordic gloves were worth a look. Since purchase Ive made a couple of 50 mile trips in the cold and wet and thus far Ive found them both warm and waterproof, although its still early days. The lobster claw design is a little strange at first, but this I understand is part of the reason why these gloves keep your hands warmer. They have a decent cuff length enabling you to tuck your jacket sleeves inside them and then cinch them up with a Velcro closures. They appear well made with some reflective detailing on the back, and also a visor wipe on the left-hand glove. What I do find a little pointless is the two chamber arrangement on the inside of the glove, labelled Warm and Grip. Am I missing the point here? Personally, I think the gloves are slightly let down by the lack of hard knuckle protectors, and also a hard slider on the heel of the palm to minimise scaphoid injury. Soft padding really doesnt cut it for me, hence 4 stars. Perhaps Richa can be encouraged to address these issues on future versions of the glove? Nonetheless, a decent winter glove for sensible money...
Tony: Warm and waterproof
Bought these gloves for a ride across Spain in winter. Very pleased with their warmth and waterproof performance. They are bulky but this is what provides the warmth.
Keith Matheson-McLaughlin: Great gloves
As usual you know these guys wont stock rubbish. Very pleased with the warmth of these gloves. The camel toe style didnt seem to bother me in the slightest as I clearly ride with two fingers ready for action anyway. I actually really like the two options of where you slide your fingers in thick and warmer or thinner for feel . I have a couple of bikes I could use in the winter, one with heated grips the other not. Clearly this glove adapts to suit the bike Im on. Top glove strongly recommend.
Webby: Warmest gloves
These gloves are a great product. The warmest gloves I have ever used on a bike. Having said that the secret to warm hands is not good gloves or even heated grips. It is keeping your core warm. Wear good thermals and in my case an electric jacket. The best piece of kit I have ever bought.
N Ralph: Richa Nordic gloves
These Lobster Claws style glove take some getting used to and because they are Winter gloves they are inevitably bigger and initially cumbersome BUT you can get used to them. I rode last weekend roughly 280 miles max 9 degrees but the forecast always said it would feel 3-4 degrees less plus take into account motorbike wind chill and my hands never got cold. I do have heated grips but reviews suggest they are not the best and most of the time I had them set on 23. Conclusion is that the gloves work well
