Rokker Urban Racer boots in brown Product Information
Rokker's Urban Racer is a traditional work boot in styling terms; and it’s made in the same way that gentlemen’s boots have been made in Northampton for over a hundred years. By which we mean that it is constructed with a genuine Goodyear welt. In a Goodyear-welted boot a welt, or strip of leather, is attached to the lower edge of the boot's upper. A layer of cork as well as a wooden shank, is sandwiched between the upper sole and the mid sole. In the case of the Urban Racer, the aggressively channeled Vibram outsole is then sewn through the midsole, and through the welt to the boot's upper.
Over time, the foot moulds itself into the cork to create a perfect impression of the shape of the foot. It makes for the last word in comfort. The Goodyear welt also makes for a more waterproof sole.
Rokker make the Urban Racer from probably the thickest leather of any short boot we offer. This is most certainly a rugged boot, but you might think that this means that the boot is going to be uncomfortable. Well no, not really; although the truth is that the Urban Racer is a boot that does need to be worn in over a period of time. But once it is, it’s incredibly comfortable. Eventually, it will become almost slipper like.
Now technically this isn’t a waterproof boot, in that it doesn’t come equipped with a waterproof membrane. Nonetheless, it is very waterproof because the leather is hydrophobically treated in the tanning. We know the boot well. Rob, our shop manager, commutes through the winter in his, and they have never let him down in terms of water ingress. The benefit of a waterproof boot that does not have a membrane, of course, is that in hot weather it will be more breathable.
From a strength standpoint, the Rokkers are again pretty robust. They even have a reinforcing shank in the sole for rigidity. This is a boot that looks just right. It’s hard enough for the toughest of adventures, yet still won’t look out of place in the office.
Nothing from Rokker comes cheap, and in that regard these boots will not disappoint. They are priced at £349. Now you could probably get something like a pair of TCX or Falco boots for something like half this money. Such boots would be comfortable and waterproof and more affordably priced. They might look pretty similar to the Rokkers, but the difference is this. Depending on your mileage, you’ll get two or three years out of a normal pair of short motorcycle boots; four if you’re lucky. But look after them, and you’ll be wearing the Rokkers in ten, perhaps fifteen, years’ time. When the soles wear out, send them to a proper cobbler; they’ll sew on a new Vibram sole, and you’ll be good to go for another five years. If you prefer, we can have them done.
We really love these boots. Last year, Rokker wanted to discontinue the Urban Racer, but we laid down on the floor and threw a little hissy fit. Life without our Urban Racers just wouldn’t be the same. There’s no ankle boot quite like it. And so they agreed to continue making it exclusively for us and the UK market.
But it's apparently getting harder and harder for Rokker to justify making them for us. The problem is that Rokker's other retailers don't want the Urban Racers. They all want something easier and lighter. Reluctantly, I feel, they have agreed to make another batch for us, but every time we place an order they increase the order quantity. And what that means is that for now we have only been able to bring them in in the Antique Black colourway.
If you want one of the finest ankle-height riding boots on the market you should think about it now, for even we are not sure how long we can keep persuading Rokker to make this boot for us. But if you do get a pair, be patient. Persevere. Take your time. Break them in. You will be rewarded. You will come to love your Urban Racers.
One word about the colour of these boots. The boot we're talking about today is called 'Antique Black'. But in most people's eyes it's a very dark brown with black highlights. Or vice versa. If you want them to be full-on black, use a Safir black cream. It won't take long.
One final word. This boot has never been submitted for CE approval. Rokker just never got around to it. But in terms of its construction, and from a longevity standpoint, the Urban Racer is probably as strong and tough as any boot we sell. It's right up there with the Tricker's Legend boot.

David Edwell: Fantastic boots
I deliberated for ages before buying these boots. I was put off by the perceived weight, stiffness and breaking in period. Its a bit of a leap of faith to lash out £350 for a pair of boots that you cant know if they are right until youve worn them to the point where they cant be returned. I neednt have worried. They break in very quickly and soon become comfortable. They do feel stiff and heavy to begin with, but it soon passes. They actually weigh 100g less than my Daytona Roadstars, so not really a heavy boot. Im a size 11 and was advised to go for a 46 in these boots. They are perhaps a tiny bit large, and perhaps I should have tried a size 45 too. In hindsight I should have ordered both sizes and sent one back. They are not a very warm boot on the bike at motorway speeds, so actually, being able to accommodate thicker socks is a blessing. I have struggled with non zipped boots in the past, fining them difficult to get on and off. Not a problem with the Urban Racers, perhaps due to lovely leather lining they are a breeze to get in and out of. Always first class service from Motolegends. Its a good job I dont live nearer to them or Id spend a fortune in there.

Thank you for the usual great level of service and quick free turnaround when I returned the first pair due to wanting to change to a bigger size. Undoubtedly a top quality pair of boots. As warned, they take some wearing in. I have wide feet and they are perhaps marginally narrow on me, so I am wearing thinner socks, but I am hoping this will ease once broken in. Anyway, top quality boots thank you.

Tough in protecting you from the elements but also tough on your feet until they are worn in. Once they are, the boots are wear all day in comfort. Absolutely love them. My go to wear for non rainy days - although they could cope with the rain I prefer a taller boot for then.

Bought these boots earlier this year and worn them every ride throughout the summer, I just love them! They feel so comfortable on the bike. Even putting them on is lovely experience, such a robust boot feels like it would be a nightmare to get into, but my feet just slip in via the beautiful liner. They are marginally large on me making them slightly less comfortable when walking around for a while, but on the bike the feel great all day. Gear change is excellent with the side stitching doing a great job of ensuring any fumbled changes still go through. Dont understand why the reinforcement doesnt cover the top of the boot too, which is now marked by the gear lever. Ive only been in the rain once with them, the leather stayed dry, but they soaked down the inside from the rain running off my soggy jeans! Would have happened with any short boot I suppose. Overall though its a great looking well made boot.

They are so good, I have two pairs, black and brown! I wear them every day, all day and they are very comfortable. I have wide feet and they are a perfect fit.The first pare I bought I visited Motolegends to make sure I got the correct size, the service was excellent, the staff very helpful.

Well I normally struggle to find a pair of boots to fit my wide Freddy Flintstone feet but these are spot on and no breaking in for me comfy from the outset. Boots are very well constructed using top drawer materials, if you look after them they will last a long time, they look cool into the bargain. Only one thing I would ask the Rokker Bros is extend the reinforcement for the gear selector to where it should be and not just the side of the boot, in my humble opinion this would take it too the ultimate boot on the market.

Yes these boots are expensive but the quality of the materials, style etc is second to none and while Ive only had them a little while, you can tell these will last. Couple of things to note, size wise i usually take a 7 half, but even getting the 7 i found them a little too roomy so consider going down a size. As others have mentioned the material is very tough so just be conscious these will take time to work in. But great pair of shoes and worth every penny!

Nice boots.I find them large made.I normally wear size 9 in work boots and 912 in fancy hillwalking boots so ordered 9s 43and found them a bit big.I could probably fit into an 842.However,with really thick socks andor a thermal insole and laced up as tight as possible they are wearable.I may well get a size 8 to see if thats a neater fit and keep the 9s for winter riding.

Comfortable out of the box , very well made.I wear them even when I’m not on the bike. The “black” ones are actually a very dark brown , which anyone with better colour vision than me can see from the picture. Perfect for posing and pootling around town.

Saw these at the Bike Shed show and they became a must have item. Great workmanship and top quality materials make for a great looking boot. As expensive as Daytona boots and maybe not as practical, but certainly better looking. Normally take a 43 and these fit exactly the same. They are proving to be hard to break in, but I expected that from other reviews. Normal brilliant service from Motolegends. Thanks

Buying boots online can be a nightmare as sizes vary so much. I usually take a UK12 in Dr Martens and a EUR48 in Asics trainers. Rokker size 46 is about right with thickish socks. The boots look great and feel indestructible. Sod the cost, treat yourself. Great service from Motolegends as usual.

Believe the hype - these are tremendous ! Finish and details are exquisite. Fit is totally accurate to size and they are beautifully comfortable. Have a black pair already and thought I would try a pair of Jeffery-West Hannibal Ltd . Edition boots but they could not match the Rokker in any way and have been returned to be replaced by a Brown pair of Urban Racers !
