Matt black is almost certainly the most popular helmet colour. And we understand why. A matt black helmet works on any bike; it’s never going to clash with the bike’s paint job, and it will always match your tyres. But here in the shop, we have a love-hate relationship with black helmets. Yes, they look cool, but getting finger prints off them is an endless job. Well, the answer to our prayers, it would seem, is a product from Muc-Off called Matt Finish Detailer. We don’t know the secret formula, but we’ve tried it out and it works. So, if you were put off buying a matt painted helmet because you weren’t up for the ceaseless task of keeping it clean, do not worry. Muc-Off’s Matt Finish Detailer is quick and easy to use. Just spray  a small amount on to a cloth, or onto the helmet itself, the wipe the marks. It leaves a streak and gloss-free protective finish that reduces dirt adhesion. Job done. If you’ve got a matt helmet, or matt paint on you bike, this is a godsend. Worth every penny.
