Motolegends Woollen Rollneck in airforce blue Product Information

When the war broke out in 1939, it quickly became apparent that there was a shortage of basic-issue clothing for all branches of the services. And that some of it was simply not up to the job. A little more than a year after the commencement of hostilities, a set of guidelines, called the Warnorm, was issued so that volunteer groups could hand-knit sweaters, jumpers, and other woollen essentials for the armed forces. Women's groups, Knitting Circles, Comforts Committees, and even schoolchildren, were encouraged to do their part for the war effort. The sweaters were supplied to all branches of the military; the Army, the Navy, and the RAF. We have recreated these jumpers as faithfully as we could, using five-ply wool, to the original pattern. Although we have to report that our version is not hand-knitted by schoolchildren.

Please note: Hand wash only. Do not tumble dry. Do not use biological detergents. May be dry cleaned.

Jerome Healy: Dr

Just received my RAF blue sweater. A lovely warm sweater for the winter, just what I wanted. Excellent value at the price.

Norm: Chocks Away!

Great fit and warm as toast. Its one of those how they used to be kinda things, if you know what I mean. Also bought one for my partners son and he thinks its ace too, although the whole nostalgia thing is lost on him... hey ho. Overall, a lovely thing. I'm of the opinion the wool was wasted on the sheep
