Held Sparrow 2 ladies gloves in black

Held is a great company; albeit one of the most under-rated. They produce some amazing, high-end gear, but even now they are probably better known for their gloves than their suits and boots. 

 

They really do make some of the best gloves out there, but they do see the world differently to some of the other brands. For example, they term the Sparrow a 'touring' glove; but for us a touring glove would always have a waterproof membrane, and the Sparrow doesn't.

 

In our world that makes this a summer glove. And as the glove has no membrane it will very comfortable to wear on warmer days. It's not a highly-vented, airflow glove like some, but you would have to be riding somewhere very hot indeed to take the view that the Sparrow was not the right glove.

 

The glove is made entirely from goatskin. Goatskin is stronger than cowhide, but thinner. It makes for some of the very nicest gloves. The glove is unlined on the palm for better feel, although there is a silk covering for the back of the hand.

 

On the fingers and on the back of the hand you get concertina banding, which allows the glove to flex a little on the bars.

 

For protection you get soft protectors on the main knuckle, and foam pads on the minor ones. Down the outside of the hand there's an extra layer of leather. On the palm you get a SuperFabric ceramic slider.

 

The glove fastens by means of two Velcro straps. One over the cuff; one at the wrist.

 

You also get the famous NUDUD system for touchscreen compatibility, although you don't get the prominent nodule that you get on similarly-equipped Halvarssons gloves, which is a shame.

 

Anyway, a really comfortable, easy to wear and protective glove for summer riding. Nice.
