Klim Badlands Aero Pro gloves in monument grey Product Information

Klim is good at filling nichés, and that’s what the Badlands Aero Pro does. When most brands make a highly breathable, summer glove, venting is to the fore, whilst protection takes a bit of a backseat. Well this all-leather glove is about as vented as a glove gets, yet it’s something you’d be prepared to wear on the road at proper icing speeds.

The leather chassis is highly perforated, with perforations on both sides of the fingers and thumb, throughout the palm and at the wrist. On three of the fingers you even get moulded air ducts. The rubber bumpers on the knuckles are also vented. Simply put, this is about as vented a glove as you’ll find.

On the main knuckle, you get a pretty huge, rubber-fronted hard knuckle protector, that is backed with foam for both comfort and impact absorption. Interestingly, the protector is not overly shaped as sometimes this can be uncomfortable if your knuckles don’t conform to the prescribed shape. In terms of protection, you also get a lightweight Superfabric slider on the palm, and a rubber bumper that covers the outside of the wrist.

It is accepted by many that external seams on gloves make them nicer to wear, and so that’s what you get on the Aero Pros. The short cuff is fastened by means of a single Velcro strap. You also get a small amount of reflective detailing. One little detail that we really appreciate on Klim’s gloves is the pull strap that helps you pull them on. It’s particularly useful, and is large enough to be used with the other glove on.

The index fingers and thumbs and touchscreen friendly, and the conductive thread makes it abundantly clear which part of the finger is to be used.

As ever, Klim has thrown the kitchen sink at these gloves. You get every feature you could ever want, and some more. In particular, even we cannot work out why Klim has put a visor wipe on what is most emphatically a pure summer glove. I suppose it’s possible that you could get caught out in heavy rain with your Badlands Aero Pros, but in our view it’s about as useful as equipping a pair of swimming trunks with a membrane! But then again Klim doesn’t do minimalist. If it can over-engineer something it will.

No two ways about it, the Badlands Aero Pro is not your average summer glove.

Product Reviews

ian: Quality glove

The fit out of the packaging was excellent, very comfortable. I am a L in gloves and the L from Klim fit perfectly, no wearing in necessary. On hot days the gloves really flow air well, take a hand off the bars for a minute and hold it up to the oncming air and you instantly feel the coolness. The only problem with these reviews is they arent written after a good period of use, my Lee Parks for example are really showing signs of poor wear after only about 3000 miles, lets hope these last longer as they are very expensive gloves. But initial impressions are very good and I would recomend on that basis.

Dickie: My Favourite Glove

Being a summer glove these are light supple and airy, but they do not skimp on protection. I will wear these for as long as the conditions allow.
