Laminated membrane

Laminated membrane motorcycle jackets are the best option for high mileage daily commuters or big distance tourers. A laminated jacket is where the membrane is basically heat sealed to the inside of the outer fabric of the jacket. This makes the jacket inpenetrable to water. It will never wet out; it will dry quickly and where there are vents they will allow air direct to the body for most effective venting. The very top of the tree for a laminated jacket in the motorcycling arena is a 3 layer Goretex Pro membrane which we stock from companies such as Klim, Rukka, Stadler, Belstaff and more recently even Richa.

Interestingly, new for 2024, Rukka is now working with a non Goretex waterproof membrane to offer a more value driven laminate product. We will be interested to see how the Rukka Kemi performs.

Rukka Kalix 3 jacket grey

RCee: Proper test

Having ordered the jacket just 10 days before a planned 1000 mile trip I didnt get a chance to wear it be before setting off. No need to worry very comfortable from the off this only improved over the trip. 2 things that really stuck me 1. Once on the bike the shape fit comes into its own 2. Completely water proof having been fully tested over 6 days of some of the worst rain Ive ridden in. Finally watch the Moto Legends videos they describe the pros con very accurately. Pay your money make your choice from an informed perspective.

Rukka Nivala 2.0 jacket in black / orange

Al: Clear information on review top marks

New Rukka suit required due to an idiot chucking a U turn on a dual carriageway Infront of me.Nice slide around 30 meters at 60mph collision with two cars suit did its job no burns or abrasions. Prompted research into latest Rukka suits my last one was ten years old and faultless. Anyway watched the great wee film review on the Hybrid by the chap highly recommended to anyone considering buying the best suit on the market,no bullshit just the facts as a life long Rukka user I will be going with the Nivala but will miss the big front pockets on my old suit. Thanks for a great review and clear information for those choosing a suit from Rukka.

Rukka Kemi jacket in black

LT: Rukka quality

I watched multiple reviews of this jacket. The Motolegends review is excellent. Realistically I dont need a laminate jacket, but I prefer the way they feel to a drop liner jacket. As far as the Gore-tex argument goes. I am sure they stand by the lifetime guarantee but its a big price hike for something that realistically I am unlikely to ever take advantage of. The Kemi comes with a level 1 back protector so I bought a level 2 one. I switched the level 1 armour to an Alpinestars jacket that came with no protection. I also bought the Rukka down jacket. Both of these are highlighted by Chris as things the Nivala benefits from. For me the Kemi is excellent value for money. Its windproof, waterproof, well armoured and comfortable.
