Pando Moto Skin UH 03 armoured leggings in black Product Information
It was Bowtex that first introduced motorcyclists to the concept of armoured and abrasion-resistant base layers. Worn beneath a casual trouser, a business trouser or a pair of jeans, they seem to negate the need for protective motorcycle wear.
Well, predictably perhaps, we don’t think this would make sense. Armoured base layers are not going to be comfortable in the hottest weather. But even when it’s cooler, the absence of a waterproof/windproof membrane will mean that there’s no protection from the effects of wind chill. Nonetheless, there are circumstances in which a pair of leggings like these will come in useful. Perhaps you need to ride somewhere in your suit trousers. We know that leggings like these have also been popular with those who ride on events like the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.
We have sold Bowtex base layers in the past, and indeed we still do but, in our view, these Pando leggings are much more comfortable and much nicer to wear. They have a silky smooth feel next to the skin in the way that Bowtex just doesn’t.
But nice as the Pando Skins are to wear, they are also incredibly strong. The key areas are made from a fabric with a 65% UHMWPE content. Now Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylenes are hugely strong. This is the main component in Dyneema and materials like Armalith that Rokker uses in its Rokkertech jeans. All the key areas of the leggings are made with with this material, although this is interspersed with areas of Spandex in the crotch and down the inside of the legs where breathability is more of an issue, and abrasion resistance less of one.
The armour in the knees and hips is super-thin, Level 1, SAS-TEC armour that is every bit a match for D3O’s Ghost armour. There’s a drawstring at the waist for adjustment, and at the ends of the legs you get YKK zips and stirrups. The pants are rated AA under EN17092.
This is not the ultimate solution to all your motorcycle protection needs, but for some people, in some situations, these leggings will perform a very useful function. We are convinced that they are the best of their kind. If you want a protective legging, these are the ones to go for.

Kerry K: Super comfy
Ive always found one of the most frustrating things about my biking is getting all of the gear on! Its all so heavy and tiring yet so necessary!. I saw a review on social media for the Pando Moto skin range, and thought Id give it a go.. Brilliant! Despite it being unisex, it fits and flatters the female figure so well. Its incredibly lightweight, and hard to believe it provides AA rating, but it does! I dont think Id ever wear them as standalone, but under any chosen pair of trousers theyre just fabulous. I can ride my bike to work and still be comfortable sitting in the office all day. Im a UK size 10 bottoms and opted for the XS, mainly because the S wasnt it stock, but - while its really debatable as to whether the S may fit better as I wouldnt know for sure without trying - they do fit maybe a teeny tiny bit snug, are incredibly stretchy and super comfy. Im definitely keeping rather than returning them. Even with the addition of the super slim hip pads it doesnt alter the size of what I can wear over the top nb they also have knee pads too. Ive only given 4 stars instead of 5 as the seams inside can feel quite rough. Ive taken to wearing a pair of tights underneath just to add the thinnest of gossamer layers between the leggings and my skin, just for mega comfort, but then I may just be being a delicate flower! Thats the only niggle though, Other than that, 5 all the way.
Sam: So comfortable
These leggings are so comfy, I cant even tell Ive got them on, I have worn them in hot weather and had no problem at all. I have the jacket as well and its just as good, highly recommend.
Rich: Did they kill the golden goose
Maybe not for everybody and maybe not for the hottest of weather but these leggings performed incredibly well. In combination with a pair of old Levis this set up was incredibly comfortable. Riding through the midwest of America including Death Valley these worked brilliantlyearly in the season so only up to 36 degrees and up into the Colorado Rocky Mountains down to -3 degrees. When I have the spare cash Ill be getting the top half. Very forgiving if gaining out losing a bit of weightnot sure if Ill ever wear my Rokkers again!
