Rokker Sky ladies jeans in black Product Information
We are not fans of all those stretchy, neoprene-style, motorcycle leggings that seem so prevalent these days. They are popular on the high street obviously, but we are not so convinced that they're totally appropriate on the bike.
Some of them are Kevlar lined, and we don't like lined pants because they are going to be sweaty in hot weather. Those that are not lined are rarely made with what we would term a technical fabric, and so to pass the CE tests, the manufacturers just increase the weight of the fabric until they hit the required abrasion level. This makes for pants that, whilst sometimes stretchy, are often quite thick. And again that's not so nice in warmer weather when, presumably, you would look to wear a legging.
The Sky pants from Rokker sit somewhere between a legging and a jean. Technically, the Sky is a jean, but it is quite narrow in the leg, and it's quite stretchy, so it fits quite like a legging.
But unlike your average legging the Sky is made from about the strongest type of fabric that can be used in motorcycle clothing. It's a fabric that is woven with insanely strong UHMWPE fibres. We won't go into what UHMWPE fibres are; that's what Wikipedia's for, but because they make for such abrasion resistant fabrics, you can reach, in this case the AA level, with a really thin material.
And that's the beauty of the Sky jeans. They feel and wear just like a pair of fashion jeans you might pick up in town.
The jeans come fitted with super-thin, SAS-TEC armour in the knees and hips. The jeans come in three leg lengths and the knee pockets are adjustable, with enough latitude in most cases to get the armour where it should be. Buy the jeans in the shop, and we'll make sure the armour is where it should be, even if that means unsewing the armour pockets and moving them up or down.
The important thing with a jean, of course, is the fit; and particularly so with a ladies' jean. And so there are some things we need to point out.
The waist is mid-rise. We prefer a higher rise on a riding trouser. Our own Rokker ladies' jean has a particularly high rise. The Sky jeans are not so high, but they are certainly not 'low-rise'.
There's a lot of stretch in these jeans, but they're not Moto Girl stretchy. These jeans are more accommodating than one might imagine, but they are a jean and not a legging. And the starting point is a slim fit, so there are shapes that won't work in these jeans. We don't want to put anybody off, but this jean is not commodious.
We haven't had them in stock long. We've sold a few pairs already. Our first customer was actually Elspeth Beard, and she certainly rocks a slim jean well!
Anyway, if you're unsure, come and see us.
