Spidi Pathfinder cargo pants in tobacco Product Information

The Spidi Pathfinder cargo pant is a lightweight chino with cargo pockets on the thighs.

Made from a cotton and Cordura mix, it is rated A under EN 17092 for abrasion resistance. Now often, on a pant like this, we like to see an AA abrasion rating. It gives that extra reassurance. Knowing what the Pathfinders are made from, we can state with some confidence that these will not be the most protective pants money can buy. They are no Rokkers. But the fabric used on the Pathfinder still passes at the AA level. And this we know because it is the same fabric as the one that Spidi uses on a similar pant they make for Ducati. (We have the two certificates on file). But with the Pathfinder Spidi decided to remove the hip armour from the package to bring it in below 200 Euros. And when you don't supply hip armour, a pant can only be classified at the single A level. That Spidi should do this seems crazy to us, but Spidi knows its home market better than we do, so who are we to argue?

The Pathfinder is going to be as easy to wear as any chino. It's a cliché we know, but take the armour out, and it would pass for the kind of pant you could pick up on the high street.

In terms of detail, you get two jean pockets, two cargo pockets, and two zipped compartments that house the armour. And what this means is that, if you want, you can remove the armour from the outside whenever you get to your destination; whether that be work or, say, a restaurant. The knee armour is Spidi's standard Warrior Lite armour. We like it; it might not be D3O, but it's still very flexible. And it's much larger than D3O. The optional hip armour is also quite huge, but you will still barely feel that it's there. And, truth be told, we would be minded to add the hip armour. And that's because, in our view, hip armour comes in to play far more often in an accident than does knee armour.

The pants fit pretty slim. Not super slim. They're not boy band. But let's just say they're probably going to work better with short, motorcycle boots than with tall ones.

And so that's the Pathfinders. For riding around town, or for a Sunday ride-out, they'd be perfect. For high-speed motorway work, there are probably better options.

David: Very comfy and good looking

Bought in one of the weekend sales but even at the recommended price these are a nice buy. They are a slim fit but stretchy and will go over a normal-ish boot but look best with a low boot. The material is very comfortable, and in the recent hot weather have been fine. I also kept them on as my going-out trousers off the bike. Just watch the nice colour in the environment of dirty oily bikes. The product info above suggests that they are AA rated but only end up being A because of the lack of hip armour. I would recommend the hip armour, pockets are available for placement.

David: Knee armour not removable from outside.

Very happy with these, especially for around-town flexibility and off-bike comfort thanks to their lightweight stretch material. The large knee pads inspire more confidence than the thin material, in terms of protection, and are not removable from the outside as described a little bit of elephant knee matters less on this cargo style, despite the slim fit. They wear slimmer, longer and lighter in weight and colour than the images suggest. The 36 fits my actual 37 waist with a little stretch to spare so benefits from a belt.

Simon: Comfy and a great fit

I really like these. My usual size fits great and the stretch in the fabric makes them very comfortable on the bike, also prevents the legs from riding up and exposing my ankles. Appreciate the info from Motolegends on the abrasion rating - these are great for my urban commute and beach cafe pub cruising. Nice colour.

Paul K: Better than expected

I spotted these during a weekend sale and decided to give then a try. ML service was great as usual and these arrived on the next working day. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these cargo pants. They are slim fitting in comparison to other brands I have tried on but the stretch material makes them super comfortable..They also look great off the bike too...

Jonnoe62: Great Fit

Wanted trousers less bulky than my multi layer Kevlar jeans and these are just perfect. Slight give in the fabric makes them really comfortable on and off the bike. Also love the look of these and suit ankle bootsshoes. You wont get these trousers over motorcycle boots.

Hans: Very comfy on and off the bike

Very pleased with these as a comfortable pair of pants you can also wear off the bike. Slim fit and true to size. No need to replace armour with D3O Ghost, I tried both and original fit better without being bulky off the bike.

Peter Cawthorne: Motolegends Fantastic Service

I ordered these trousers on line. When I received them I realised that the style was way too tight fitting for me. They fitted me but I just prefer a looser fit. I sent them back and my money was refunded immediately. No postage to pay either way. No questions asked. An absolutely fantastic service.
