Belstaff Twyford gloves olive Product Information
The Belstaff Twyford gloves has been created specifically to go with Belstaff's new Klim Marrakesh-like high-airflow jacket called the Tamar. Now that's a lovely jacket that betters the Marrakesh in some ways. It will also, of course, fit a lot of people who won't fit into a Marrakesh. And that's because it comes in more sizes.
In terms of the gloves themselves, the chassis is a full-grain goat hide. On the palm you then get an extra layer of goat suede at the base of fingers and up the thumb. This is to provide some extra grip on the controls, but it also strengthens the gloves in the area where you might expect the highest level of wear to occur.
On the back of the hand you get a large but very pliable, honeycombed knuckle protector. You get what might be termed rubber bumpers on the minor knuckles, including the thumb.
The fingers come with externally-sewn seams. And that's something that glove makers do to make them more comfortable.
On the back of the hand you get a mix of leather, some kind of stretchy Neoprene fabric and a high-airflow mesh. This mesh surrounds the knuckle protector, but also runs up the thumb.
The forefingers are touchscreen sensitive. The gloves fasten by means of a Velcro flap that tightens over an elasticated gusset.
There are lots of different types of summer gloves out there. What they all have in common is that they don't have a membrane. But some don't flow a lot of air. Some flow quite a bit because they are thin or loosely woven. And some flow a lot because they are covered in mesh.
And the Twyford is one of those summer gloves that flows a lot of air because mesh forms a large part of its make up.
Having said that Belstaff is not renowned for its gloves, this is one they've got right. It's the kind of glove that just about any manufacturer would be pleased to have in its range.
Oh, and it will go particular well with Belstaff's new high-airflow Tamar jacket; or indeed Klim's Marrakesh jacket.
