Klim Marrakesh waist flex conversion

One of our favourite Klim products is their high air-flow jacket called the Marrakesh. It’s an amazing top. It is super strong, comes fully armoured, and is comfortable beyond belief. For hot weather it reigns supreme. In the cold and wet, not so much, although we have work-arounds for both of those scenarios. The Marrakesh goes up against the Rukka Forsair, and although the Rukka probably flows more air, we think the Klim is more wearable. But there is a problem with the Klim. There had been a rumour that the 2020 version would have a 360° zip, but that turned out to be false news. It would seem that this claim had never been officially fact checked! But industrious as ever we have created our own solution. Into the lining of the Marrakesh we sew a Halvarssons product called the Waist Flex. You end up with an 80cm long, 2” elasticated panel, along the bottom edge of which runs the jacket half of a Halvarssons connector zip. Confused? Read it again more slowly. You’ll get there. Now this means three things. You can connect the Marrakesh into any Halvarssons pant. You can connect the Marrakesh into any Rukka pant. And if you use Halvarssons’ wonderful Waist Zip, you can connect the Marrakesh into any jean or trouser that has belt loops. It really does turn the Marrakesh into a much more useable garment.
