Klim Outlander GTX boots in castlerock petrol Product Information
The Klim Outlander is a short, adventure-style boot. And it has to be acknowledged that there’s no shortage of these on the market. Normally, the manufacturers merely produce a cut-down version of their full-height, adventure boots. As a result, the boots from TCX, Gaerne, Forma, Falco et al. all look pretty much the same. Yes, these boots do a job, but that kind of expediency simply won’t wash at Klim.
That’s why Klim’s gear stands out from the crowd. The brief that Klim's marketing people issued here was for a short, ankle boot for adventure bike riders. The boot needed to be protective. It needed to be easier to put on and take off than a full-height adventure boot. The boot needed to be tough and strong with all the protective features that would be required when riding off the beaten track. The boot had to be totally waterproof. But most importantly it had to be a boot that you could also do a long hike in. This would need to be the kind of boot you’d be happy to wear for a walk to the top of the hill even after a long day in the saddle.
Waterproofing for the Outlander comes courtesy of Gore-Tex, as you would expect with Klim. And what this means is that the boot's waterproofing is guaranteed for life.
Of course, one of the most trick features of the Outlander is its BOA lacing system. It’s super strong and so easy to use. You can tighten these boots as tight as you want, yet in a jiffy easily relax the fit if you overdo it. The other benefit of the BOA lacing is that it allows you to open up the shaft more easily to create a far more generous entry. Rare will be the foot that cannot slide into this boot in classic, Cinderella fashion.
Other features include breathable Cordura panels interspersed with the leather, extra panels of reinforcing TPR material on the heel and toes, black Scotchlite reflective panels, a gearchange pad on the left boot, a hardened toe shield, and a shank in the sole for torsional rigidity.
At the back of the boot you get a loop for pulling the boot on. The shape of the insole, interestingly, has been informed by the Nestfit programme that has measured millions of feet to determine the optimum shoe fit. The breathable insole is removable and replaceable.
Undoubtedly, the Outlanders are ‘adventure’ in their styling. They would, therefore, look right with any off-road or adventure-style suit and on any adventure bike, but you could just as well wear them with a pair of Rokker jeans on your R nineT.

Graham: Klim Outlander Boots Review Perfect for Larger Calves and Versatile Use
If you have larger calves like me, finding the right boots can be a challenge. Short boots are usually my go-to, and after trying many, I found the Klim Outlander to be a great fit. Not only do they accommodate my calf size comfortably, but they also shine when Im off the biketheyre genuinely comfortable for walking around. Ive taken these boots on a 3-month tour across the US and multiple trips across Europe over the past few years. Theyve stood up well to all kinds of terrain and weather, making them a reliable companion. The only downside? Because they are so comfortable and durable, Ive already worn through two pairs and am now on my third! If youre in the market for boots that combine a good fit for larger calves with great off-bike usability, the Klim Outlander is definitely worth considering.
Davy P: Klim Outlander GTX
Have had these Outlander boots for a around a month so I cant attest to their longevity, I can though vouch for their lightness, ease of use and waterproofing. Im giving four stars out of five only due to the fairly narrow fit compared to some other boots I use. This is perhaps not a fault with these boots, I may just have wide feet. It gave me some piece of mind knowing I could return them easily if the fit was wrong. This very minor issue may disappear with continued use and certainly wont stop me enjoying these boots. 95 recommended.
JamesL: Overall excellent boot
I combine hiking with bike trips and bought these hoping to save dragging around a set of walking boots as well as my Daytonas. Theyve certainly exceeded expectations on the bike they feel just like a biking boot, and in the hills they feel just like a walking boot. The only problem was that they do seem to come up small. Im a Euro45 but needed to go a size up on Klims chart to a US12. Otherwise, mine had a bit of wearing in hod carrying on the farm, and have been very comfortable since. Ive done proper hill walking in them in Scotland and theyve been absolutely fine. They give good feel on the bike and despite the sole being very grippy in the hills, theres no problem in moving your feet on the controls. Waterproofing is good, and I use my walking gaiters to fill in below my waterproofs.
Dizzy: Comfortable and good for a hike
I recently bought this boot from the excellent customer service at the Guildford store. It was exceptionally comfortable boot as soon as I put it on, the boa lacing is great, and it does feel like a hiking boot. However, the short few minutes of trying in a store is not the same as wearing it for an extended period. So I took it for a ride and then for a 10km hike as a test and surprising to me they were excellent. Definitely a boot you can wear all day.
Martin Wilson: Rain, rain and more rain
2023 - 2,000 plus mile trip around France - heading home just above Renne saw rain in distance - put on Scott waterproofs and 300 metres latter hit torrential rain!. The Outlanders are just tall enough and the Scott trousers just long enough to keep the wet out for the next 180k to Caen - they are great boots - very happy biker.
Ian Price: Really comfortable boot.
Rob recommend this boot to me after my current ones from another manufacturer had come apart on me. They are very comfortable and wear in really easily. Would recommend
