Arai Tour X5 helmet | Arai adventure helmet

The Arai Tour-X5 is the most advanced adventure helmet Arai has ever produced - and the first of the major adventure lids to achieve ECE 22-06 certification. Launched at the tail end of 2023, it replaces the long-standing Tour-X4, bringing with it a host of updates while staying true to Arai’s uncompromising approach to safety.

As ever, Arai won’t entertain features that undermine the integrity of the shell. So there’s no drop-down sun visor, no flip-up chin bar and no integrated comms system. What you get instead is a round, strong, handmade helmet designed to reduce rotational forces and glance off impacts, exactly as Arai intended.

Compared to the Tour-X4, the new helmet offers a simpler visor mechanism (tool-free removal), an improved peak design (still requires a tool, but easier to manage), a larger visor aperture, and better optical clarity. The nose is now flatter, which improves glancing-off performance, and venting has been significantly upgraded for better airflow in hot or technical riding.

You’ll also find the usual Arai refinements: a MaxVision Pinlock 120 in the box, D-ring strap fastener, and that unmistakable hand-built quality.

As an official Arai stockist, we offer the full Tour-X5 range with free next-day UK delivery and returns, and expert fitting at our Guildford shop.

Stephen Wright: Arai x5 dark visor

Good quality visor, makes all the difference to me, reduces glare and fatigue on very bright days. Good service from ML.

ALC: Better than X-4

Replaced an X-4 and was immediately impressed with the fit, vision and comfort. On the road, Im not getting the buffeting from the visor but couldnt honestly say it was any quieter. Airflow is good but visor does not seem to lock in up position like the old one did. On the whole, excellent.

Graham: Quality helmet

As you would expect a top quality helmet. The finish, fittings and lining all make you feel it has been hand crafted. The fit of the helmet surprised me as I wasnt too sure if it would be right for me, I usually suit Shoei helmets. I was very pleased to find it was a great fit and very comfortable. I usually wear a size small and this size fitted fine in the Arai. The helmet feels a bit heavy when first picked up but to be honest you dont really notice it once you are wearing it. On the bike I found the helmet to be comfortable and fairly quiet, certainly no noisier than other makes of adventure helmet. The peak seems fine so far and doesnt catch the wind too much also no problems with noise or vibration. I havent found any problem with side winds or when doing looks over the shoulder. The helmet has been used on a Tenere 700 and a CRF300L. Venting is very good but this also means it can be a bit chilly in the colder weather. You will want to wear a wind proof neck tube that can be pulled up over your chin. Great helmet at a bargain price as I got it in a Motolegends Sunday sale.
