Klim Artemis ladies jacket in grey / wintermint Product Information

The Artemis is Klim’s top adventure outfit for women. This having been said, it is not baggy and shapeless like the men’s Badlands or Carlsbad, so we think it could be considered the perfect ladies’ touring outfit.

The jacket has a two-layer laminate construction, so it will never wet out. For added strength you get Armacor-style panels down the chest and on the back pocket. And SuperFabric on the shoulders and elbows. The suit comes equipped with a full suite of D3O armour. The jacket, like the pant, is rated AA under EN17092.

Always a big thing for Klim, venting comes by way of vents on the biceps and forearms, and two horizontal vents beneath the breasts. You also get two vertical exhaust vents at the back of the jacket. And, as usual, with Klim, you get elasticated loops that allow you to ride with the neck collar tabbed back.

At times, it seems that the only thing that Klim likes more than vents is pockets. And so you get two external hand pockets, two chest pockets, a large back pocket, an ID pocket on the left forearm, and four more pockets inside the jacket. There’s also what Klim calls a Molle utility panel on the left chest.

Now laminated garments are never the most comfortable, and they don’t fit as well as drop-liner ones, so klim has gone to some lengths to make the Artemis more wearable. You get football pockets behind the shoulders and seamless gussets under the arms. There are adjusters on the forearms and on the biceps, and a very neat 360 degree belt at the waist. Zipped gussets at the hem allow the jacket to splay when you’re sat on the bike. You also get a drawstring arrangement at the neck, and another in the hem. At the sleeve ends, you get zips and Velcro flaps to allow the sleeves to be worn over the cuff of a waterproof glove. Of course, there’s also a zip to connect the jacket to the pant.

What the Artemis doesn’t have, of course, is anything by way of a thermal lining. This has always been a Klim thing but, increasingly, this doesn’t bother us because we prefer adding our own mid layers, as they are usually superior to the ones that the manufacturers supply as standard

Of course, there’s lots of other stuff. 3M Scotchlite banding. A storm flap down the front of the jacket. Leather around the collar and sleeve ends. And so on. On Klim’s website, they talk of other components and technologies, but what we’ve explained here is what you need to know.

This is not a jacket for everybody. It will not be cosseting enough for the occasional weekend rider. It will, though, reward those with wider ambitions to travel in all conditions. This is one of the most versatile jackets we have come across. We offer nothing quite as versatile unless you are prepared to adopt a more’ layered’ approach.

Mary: Brilliant jacket

Got this jacket back in April and had superb advice from Motolegends. It was tested to the limits with thunderstorm and lashing rain on a mountain pass in Austria and kept me totally dry. Highly recommend.

Alison: Amazing!

Such a comfortable stylish jacket that just had its first soaking in the rain and kept me dry protected. Love it! Amazing support from Motolegend ensuring I had the right fit. Thanks!
