Winter Motorcycle Jackets

Riding through the winter places very different demands on a motorcycle jacket. Staying warm matters, but keeping the wind and rain out is just as important. A proper winter motorcycle jacket will normally have a waterproof membrane, effective insulation and enough room underneath for additional layers when temperatures really drop.

Textile jackets tend to work particularly well in poor weather, while laminated constructions can be better in prolonged rain because the outer fabric absorbs less water. Look for good coverage at the neck, waist and cuffs too, as these are the areas where cold air and water can find their way in.

The best winter jacket is ultimately one that keeps you warm and dry without restricting movement, so you can concentrate on the road rather than the weather. And for us, that probably means something like a Rukka jacket or a Halvarssons jacket. Both coming from Scandinavian countries, they are fit for purpose to protect you from proper British winter weather.

Halvarssons ladies Vinvallen jacket in black

Rodders: comfy

Like the trousers this jacket does what the label says. Ive been out in the cold wind and rain and stayed dry and warm. Was out in the heat today and was very comfortable, didnt sweat in this heat with the jacket on, took out the liner and was just perfect.... Halverson for me all the way as their clothing is always comfortable. I got alpine gortex before trying this suit but found they didnt fit well on my female body and they were stiff and uncomfortable. I can honestly say all clothing i have for my bike is mainly Halverson and have no complaints about them at all. A lot of bike gear for women just dont fit well. Halverson ladies selection does !!!

Belstaff Crosby jacket in black

Geoff: Heritage

Like the above reviewer, my first Belstaff was the Trialmaster that in 1968 cost my generous Dad around 40 quid. It was heavily advertised in the bike media by the living legend Sammy Miller. I froze my nethers off during my winter commuting to college in Wigan, grim at the best of times, but although my 16 year old self never understood layering, the elements never got through that waxed exterior. 58 years later inflation has nudged the price up a touch, but the quality and style is still there in the Crosby. So well made, so stylish, my wife loves it so much I expect she'll get one. There's good standard D30 armour and with my WarmSafe electric liner jacket, its good for all seasons. Great service from Motolegends as usual and I snapped this up in a discounted sale. Trivia note I normally go for an XL as Im a 42 chest and a proportionate 62 but that was not the best fit for me across the shoulders. The swap for a 2XL took a matter of days - perfect.

Dainese Carve Master 4 GTX jacket in black

Mark H: Great quality Jacket

I bought this to replace my tired Ducati Strada C4 jacket also made by Dainese. So i was confident the fit would be the same and i wasnt disappointed. A size 50 in both jackets suits me well. Its a very good quality jacket and looks really modern and stylish with lots of practicality. The build quality is top notch Dainese and it looks very breathable with lots of zip vents, but also very waterproof due to the Gortex lining but not tried out yet, waiting for the biking season to start in full force, but dont think i will be disappointed with its performance. A very good choice for a short blast and also a great choice for touring as well. Looks Great! Excellent service from Motolegends as always with speedy delivery and a very accurate and informative review from the chap in the cap before i made my purchase
