Stylmartin Iron boots in black

The Stylmartin Iron has been designed with retro in mind. Its leather is what Stylmartin terms a 'graffiti' leather. This is a full-grain leather where the top layer is brushed to remove some of the leather's colour to reveal lighter tones beneath it. This leaves marks and swirls that create an authentic-looking patina. Every boot will look a little different, and if there's a mark that you don't like, you don't have a damaged boot. Such blemishes are an intentional part of the boots' character.

 

The leather has been treated for waterproofing at the tanning stage, but of course you also get a waterproof, breathable membrane.

 

There's a stiffened counter at the end of the toe box. There's another one in the heel. There are also pucks in the ankles, but you also get a nicely padded collar that will add a bit of both comfort and protection.

 

Befitting a boot that clearly has urban environments in mind, the Iron has what Stylmartin terms its 'City Grip' sole. The visible part of the sole is 'dirty', so don't think the boots have been worn when they turn up on your door. There's a replaceable, anatomic insole for comfort.

 

You get two pairs of laces with the Iron boots. They come laced with a red pair, but if that's all a bit racey for you there's a black pair in the box.
