The Stylmartin Navajo Evo Low is a short, adventure-style boot.

 

Now classically boots like these are worn by adventure-bike riders who want to wear a buckled boot for that adventurer look, but who want something more wearable and comfortable than a full-height, adventure boot.

 

But what also has to be said about boots like this is that are more protective than your average, motorcycle, ankle boot.

 

The chassis of the boot is a surprisingly supple, full-grain leather. It's a leather that's been stamped to give it a heavily-grained look.

 

For comfort you get a nicely padded shaft. There's a soft, baffled pad in the heel that incorporates a reflective insert. The front of the boot is also leather, and again heavily padded. It happens to make for a particularly comfortable boot; way more comfortable than your average, short, adventure boot. People often talk about 'all-day' comfort but that description probably applies more to the Navajo than most short, adventure boots.

 

For protection there's a mighty strong counter in the toe. There's another similarly robust affair in the heel. You also get huge, foam-backed protectors in the ankles.

 

Even though the outer leather has been treated for water reppellency, the real waterproofing comes courtesy of a breathable, waterproof membrane. But a boot like this has an advantage over many ankle boots; and it's its higher shaft that means it's less likely that rain bouncing off the ground will make its way into the boot.

 

The boot fastens by means of two, adjustable ski buckles. There's also a Velcro flap at the top of the shaft of the boot.

 

The Navajo has a particularly grippy sole. It's what Stylmartin calls their 'Adventure Grip’ sole. It's designed obviously to cope with the challenges of riding off-road and in all terrains. The aggressive pattern provides reliable grip on uneven surfaces such as sand, gravel and off-road trails. With differentiated, anti-slip zones and drainage channels for mud and water, the tread ensures excellent traction even in adverse conditions.

 

The Navajo comes with a removable, anatomic insole.
