Motorcycle gloves

There are many different styles of motorcycle glove to suit just about every kind of riding situation, and if you ride across the seasons, it is likely that you will have to equip yourself with more than one pair of gloves. For summer riding, and when it’s dry, it’s hard to argue against leather motorcycle gloves. It’s comfortable to wear, has strength for abrasion resistance, and gives the rider good feel at the controls. You could equally go for a textile version, but in essence a summer glove has no membrane. But leather is not good in the rain, as it simply absorbs moisture. This can leave you feeling both wet and cold. When it’s cold but dry, you may want to go for a padded leather glove. Every biker will probably also need a pair of waterproof motorcycle gloves. These can either be a summer weight, called a summer waterproof glove; or, for when it is cold and wet, an insulated and waterproof glove, known as a winter glove. Of course, from a style perspective, there are dozens of different designs that allow you to match your glove to the style of bike you ride.

We particularly like and recommend Richa gloves and Held gloves. Both companies started out as glove manufacturers so they really know gloves. Richa make very highly spec'd gloves at very competitive prices. Held make quite unique gloves and in a good range of sizing including short-fingered versions.

Held Air n Dry II gloves in black

Mark H: Brilliant for Touring

This is my second pair of these gloves as the first pair were starting to get a bit tatty after many years of multiple use. They are a fabulous glove in so many ways, especially for touring You can use the warmer waterproof side on a chilli morning and then switch to the cooler breezy side as the day warms up. Also great that they now have touch finger phone use as the earlier ones i had didnt have this feature. These are pretty much my go to glove for all occasions. Great service from Motolegends as always and Chriss review is pretty much spot on.

Richa Warm Grip GTX gloves in black

Simon: Brilliant

Great so far in 4 months of winter blood biking. The problem with this for conventional winter gloves is that you have to take them off frequently to open panniers etc and your hands get wet however waterproof the gloves are. Which then transfers to the glove liner and your hands are wet and cold. With these you can whack the heated grips up and because they transfer heat really efficiently your hands and the liners actually dry out and youre toasty warm again. Agree with the previous reviewer that the visor wipe is a bit awkward, but either its softened or Ive got used to it as it seems OK now. Thankfully Ive not been a position to test the impact protection.

Pete Chapman: Ticked all the boxes

I got these for my wife riding pillion. No more chilled hands and are long enough to go over her jacket cuffs to keep out the draughts. Sizing was spot on also.
