Winter Motorcycle Gloves

In the winter, there's nothing worse than riding with cold hands and fingers. It's debilitating, and stops you from concentrating, and so can be very dangerous. In the winter, you will need a pair of padded gloves with a filling like Primaloft, Thinsulate or Outlast. Because of their increased thickness, winter gloves may give you a slightly diminished feel on the bars, but this is simply the trade-off for warmth. X-Trafit gloves, with a bonded waterproof liner on the fingers, are not great when it's very cold, because there is no padding directly beneath the fingertips. The other consideration in the winter is the wet, and if it's raining you may be better off with a textile glove, rather than a leather one, as leather simply absorbs the moisture. As with skiing, a mitten style glove can be more effective than a traditional glove when it comes to keeping your hands warm, and several brands make motorcycling mittens.

Klim Badlands GTX long gloves in grey

Nigel: Super Quality

I have been hunting for a pair of winter gloves for ages. These do the job very well. Ordered big to take a silk inner glove and give me room for my large hands. The gloves are beautifully made and after one Sunday afternoon ride moulded to my hand. The gloves are warm and with heated grips allow warmth to circulate around the whole hand. The wrist adjustment works well and does what it says but the large end grip does not always sit inside my jacket sleeve nicely. I suspect I need to experiment a little. All in all, very pleased with purchase and an excellent addition to my collection.

Bogdan: Pricy but quality

Ive only used the gloves for a month now, during November December. The temperature was around 5 degrees Celsius, so not too cold, but on high speeds 70 hour on motorway for over 1 hour. It tried with the heat grips on and it was ok, but still feeling the cold although bearable. With the heat grips on lowest setting I had no issues, so overall 45 for cold protection. The gloves are comfortable probably 45 for comfort and the touch screen its ok although sometimes it would not be as responsive 45 rating. But the built quality feels 55 and they also look great 55. I managed to get this during the ML discounts, so overall I would still rate this as 55.

David: Excellent Gloves

Having watched the Chap in the Cap review I purchased a pair, and noted his comments on not the warmest, but great with heated grips. With that in mind I combined them with some Warm Safe inner glove liners. This combination was perfect. Even down to zero degrees the gloveliner combination kept my hands warm. The fit i went 1 size up to cater for the liners again was one of the best fits, no sagging finger ends trying to feel for switches. Obviously dexterity not as good as unlined summer gloves but about as good as I could expect for winter. With the liners in, the heated grips need to be on a high setting but they definitely work. Hands bone dry in heavy rain though as with all membrane gloves I turn the heated grips off in heavy rain. They also fit perfectly under the cuffs of my Nivala 2 jacket. Overall very pleased with the glove a great price too As always Motolegends service was first class
