Helstons Hunt jacket review
Published on: 09 April 2020
We love the French motorcycle clothing brand Helstons. They’re really rock and roll. They’ve been producing cool, café-racer style leather jackets forever. They were the French equivalent of Lewis Leathers back in the day, and they’re still producing proper bike gear for real motorcyclists. The jacket that Chris is reviewing here is a new wax cotton version of an existing style known as the Hunt. Made using British Millerain wax cotton, it’s a mid-length jacket in the mould of the Belstaff Crosby. On the outside you get four main flap pockets and two smaller zip pockets. The waist tightens by means of belt loops at the flanks. Wax cotton on its own is water resistant, but when it is backed, as it is on the Hunt, with a waterproof membrane you end up with a garment that is extremely waterproof. The Hunt comes with a thermal liner, and is fully armoured. That’s a spec. that’s more impressive than you’ll find on the equivalent Belstaff jacket. But you get all this at a price that is a fraction of the famous British brand. So what’s the catch? Well, to find out, you’ll have to listen to what the Chap in the Cap has to say. Not, of course, that we’re admitting that there is a catch. But you’ll have to watch the video to be sure!
