The outer chassis of the Nimbus is made from a Ripstop material. Now Ripstop, as the name suggests, is designed to be tear resistant, but don't get carried away here. The material is super thin in the interests of lightness and breathability. And so if you catch the material on a sharp edge it will tear! 

 

The mix of duck down to feathers in the Nimbus is 90:10. The fill-plower rating is 750.

 

All the baffles in the jacket are sealed to prevent migration of the down to other areas of the  jacket.

 

The ends of the cuffs are bound with a stretch fabric that cinches the sleeve at the wrist. You get the same stretch binding at the hem.

 

You get two, zipped pockets on the outside of the jacket, and a particularly deep, top-loading, open pocket  on the inside. The zips on the pockets, as well as the main one up the front of the jacket, are YKK.

 

Belstaff seems very excited by the stealth-like, black poppers and zip pulls on the Nimbus. They call them 'dark iron'!

 

For portability on the bike the jacket comes with its own little stuff sack. And, of course, that's one of the other benefits of a down jacket for motorcyclists. When you're not using it it can be crushed down into a very small package that can be tucked into the tiniest of space in a pannier or top box.

 

Lastly, and perhaps to overcome the stealth nature of the metal hardware, the badge on the sleeve is reflective for nighttime visibility. How useful this is is debatable given that it will nearly always be worn beneath an outer jacket.
