Motorcycle Gloves

There are many different styles of motorcycle glove to suit just about every kind of riding situation, and if you ride across the seasons, it is likely that you will have to equip yourself with more than one pair of gloves. For summer riding, and when it’s dry, it’s hard to argue against leather motorcycle gloves. It’s comfortable to wear, has strength for abrasion resistance, and gives the rider good feel at the controls. You could equally go for a textile version, but in essence a summer glove has no membrane. But leather is not good in the rain, as it simply absorbs moisture. This can leave you feeling both wet and cold. When it’s cold but dry, you may want to go for a padded leather glove. Every biker will probably also need a pair of waterproof motorcycle gloves. These can either be a summer weight, called a summer waterproof glove; or, for when it is cold and wet, an insulated and waterproof glove, known as a winter glove. Of course, from a style perspective, there are dozens of different designs that allow you to match your glove to the style of bike you ride.

We particularly like and recommend Richa gloves and Held gloves. Both companies started out as glove manufacturers so they really know gloves. Richa make very highly spec'd gloves at very competitive prices. Held make quite unique gloves and in a good range of sizing including short-fingered versions.

MP: Tricks to break them in

I have held back doing a review on these gloves for months. I wanted to see how they performed over the summerautumn. I write this review on the 221026 after having been on a 2hr ride at air temp 9. I have worn these gloves all summer and they have become my only glove apart from the Lee Parks ones I own. They took a few rides to break in. A little cheat to break them in wear them for half an hour every other evening whilst watching TV. And make sure you clench your fists every so often. I found two weeks of doing that on and off. And then whilst on the bike they were worn in within a month. The fit is excellent. Once broken in you have great feel and control. I rate them that much that I bought a pair of the waterproof ones as well. It will be a pair of the brown ones for next summer. Another little cheat for the cooler autumnal days. Wear a pair of the Rukka Offwind Infinium GTX gloves that motolegends sell. They took the chill off on the ride home this evening.

So, these fit me really well. Finger length and width seems ideal. Certainly have that close fit second skin feel. It took a couple of short rides to get the gloves bedded in. Now when I ride they have become unnoticed, which is great. The finish is excellent, with attention to detail. Two straps allow wrist and gauntlet adjustment. The gloves are quite narrow at the wrist, which makes that a tight spot when putting the gloves on and removing them. That doesnt affect comfort or fit when on, its unlikely the gloves will come off during a spill which is reassuring. True to their racing fit and style I suppose. Two minor issues, nothing obvious to help wipe the visor and not that good with touch screens. Really pleased with these gloves though.
