Motorcycle gloves

There are many different styles of motorcycle glove to suit just about every kind of riding situation, and if you ride across the seasons, it is likely that you will have to equip yourself with more than one pair of gloves. For summer riding, and when it’s dry, it’s hard to argue against leather motorcycle gloves. It’s comfortable to wear, has strength for abrasion resistance, and gives the rider good feel at the controls. You could equally go for a textile version, but in essence a summer glove has no membrane. But leather is not good in the rain, as it simply absorbs moisture. This can leave you feeling both wet and cold. When it’s cold but dry, you may want to go for a padded leather glove. Every biker will probably also need a pair of waterproof motorcycle gloves. These can either be a summer weight, called a summer waterproof glove; or, for when it is cold and wet, an insulated and waterproof glove, known as a winter glove. Of course, from a style perspective, there are dozens of different designs that allow you to match your glove to the style of bike you ride.

We particularly like and recommend Richa gloves and Held gloves. Both companies started out as glove manufacturers so they really know gloves. Richa make very highly spec'd gloves at very competitive prices. Held make quite unique gloves and in a good range of sizing including short-fingered versions.

Klim Adventure GTX glove in tan

Tim: Great Glove

This is my first pair of under the cuff gloves. I bought them as a late spring to early autumn riding glove because they are not insulated but are waterproof, you can never trust the weather up north! The dexterity is great and the touch screen works fantastically. They were a little sweaty when the temperature rose about 25 degrees but theyre not vented so its to be expected. The fit is good but could be better. If your like me and have long slim fingers youll find they are snug in the length on your thumb and first finger and theres room left in the others. They are a loser fit across all the fingers but this doesnt bother me. The length is good and after bedding them in and when gripping the bars the above isnt an issue. Im 62 and about 78kg. The medium fits me well. All in all these are a great glove, although a bit pricey but the quality is excellent 5 from me, would definitely recommend if you are after a waterproof, lightweight, non insulated glove.

Held Score 4 GTX gloves in black

ColdDarkNorth: Score 4

Like other Held gloves, I really like the design and quality of the Score 4s. Very little bedding in, waterproof and easy to get a good fit with the double closures. Great glove for mixed weather but not full winter cold.

Held Desert II gloves in black

Great fit and design. Wore them on a hot trip straight out of the pack. No wearing in and very good at getting it flow to the hands. Great summer gloves.
