Motorcycle Mid Layers

In winter you should be wearing a mid-layer over your technical base-layer. A mid-layer come in all shapes and sizes. A fleece is a mid-layer. As is a jacket containing hollow-form fibres. Heavier Merino makes for a brilliant mid-layer. And then there’s our favourite, a down jacket. A down jacket is a great insulator, but a down jacket makes any motorcycle jacket more comfortable. And it works just as well off the bike as on it.

Klim Zephyr Wind shirt in blue

Alwyn: Excellent shirt

Does the job even though it is as mentioned on the video gossamer thin Ive used it in anger and also as my go to top when at sea. It packs so small its ridiculous. Would recommend it to all. The sizing may be something for individuals to judge for themselves but Im 510 44 45 chest and 37 waist and I have large. Extra large would do also I think

Rukka Lahti mid-layer jacket in black

Jim Cannon: Great fit and quality

Bought this after watching a video about layering, from the Chap in the Cap very informative thanks Chris. Wear this at the moment under a mesh jacket in the early morning when there is a bit of a chill. Really good fit and wouldnt look out of place as a walk down to the pub jacket. Very slick and quick service from Motolegends. Just saving up for a Klim Marrakesh now Chris

Klim Zephyr Wind shirt in grey

Simon: Simple but effective

I already owned one of these wind shirts in blue but it was too large for me these days - so I downsized to another one in this light grey colour. These wind shirts really do work and theyre so light that they fit under any jacket. Theyre also compact when youre not wearing them and so dont take up much luggage space. I find mine particularly useful when Im riding in a ventilated summer jacket and its a bit cooler in the early morning or later in the evening. The wind shirt is also smart enough to be worn off the bike without looking like Im a biker.
