Motorcycle Jackets
Choosing a motorcycle jacket is probably the most important gear decision you have to make. The huge choice of bike jackets on the market can be bewildering. There are the safety issues to consider - how abrasion resistant is the jacket material; are there reinforced areas; what level is the shoulder and elbow armour; is a back protector included or optional? Then you need to think about the waterproofing and venting properties of the jacket. Will you be riding in the summer or winter or both? These days a textile motorcycle jacket can be just as effective as leather in terms of protection. But leather has no thermal qualities, and is very poor when it comes to keeping the rider dry, as it simply absorbs moisture. Staying safe on a bike is helped when you ride comfortably, and in most circumstances, hot or cold, wet or dry, you'll be more comfortable in a textile jacket. Textile jackets also tend to come equipped with a whole host of technical features that often don't make their way onto leather motorcycle jackets. Choose leather if your priority is looking good, or if you’re riding on the track. Choose textile for commuting and touring.

We stock what we consider to be the very best brands in the business - so Rukka jackets, Klim jackets, Belstaff jackets to name just the top few. Helstons Ace Legende Vintage jacket in brown
An e-mail from Motolegends offering substantial Sunday Sale discount on all leather jackets caught my attention. I had long promised myself a leather jacket and of the options available the Helstons Ace Legende vintage jacket seemed to fit the bill. Both well specified and with five star reviews it seemed an excellent choice. As a chest size I seem to hover between an XL and XXL, so to be on the safe side I ordered one of each size, being confident one or other would fit. Wrong! When they arrived both were too small, so I had to re-order a XXXL. Now it could be argued it was vanity on my part to order smaller sizes in the hope one would fit. But, an MS sweater purchased just a few days later in a size XL fits perfectly! To add to the confusion the Helstons jacket and the MS sweater both have near identical sizes written on their labels 112-117cms and 113-117cms, yet one is an XL and the other a XXXL? Why ever cant clothing manufactures be consistent in their sizing? Is it really too much to ask? OK, moan over, what about the jacket?... It truly is beautiful the leather is wonderfully soft and the stitching is perfect. Top draw YKK zips all round and what appears to be a nicely finished heavy duty ploycotton lining. The branding is very discreet with a simple embossed name on the chest. I went for the dark brown colour with tastefully contrasting tan stripes down the sleeves. The jacket comes with Level 1 D3O Ghost armour in the shoulders and sleeves, but no back protector, although there is provision for one. In summary a beautiful jacket, but check your sizing carefully. If you are likely to wear a thermal lining with this jacket you may even need to consider a larger size...
Halvarssons Gruven jacket in blue
I got my Gruven several weeks ago in the last Motolegends sale at a very good discount. Intially, I thought the sleeves were a little long but having used the coat today for the first time, the sleeves are perfect for me on the bike. Today was a bright but crisp day, about 8degrees. Is say that this is the first time in several years that Ive ridden in such conditions were I havent had a coldcool chest area. Today I had the inner liner which comes with the coat on. It comes with a foil type lined interior. I wont leave home without this on in cool conditions ever again. I am very happy with this jacket and would highly recommend it thinking of buying one. Fit is true to the size on the jacket. Thank you Motolegends.
Rukka Nivala 2.0 jacket in black / orange
This is my third Rukka jacket. The quality speaks for itself, the fit is good for me, and for the reduce price from Motolegends, its great value. The liner jacket is a big imprvement on previous jackets Ive had-a definite improvement there. Ive never crashed in them, so cant comment on protection. All my gear has eventually let some water in, but usually after many thousands of miles and over 7 years.
