Shoei Neotec 3 helmet in white Product Information
The new Shoei Neotec 3 is an updated and improved version of their already well reviewed Neotec 2. Shoei has always been at the forefront of developement in flip up / modular touring helmets and the Neotec 3 continues to be the market leader. As with all Shoei helmets the internal head liners and cheek pads can be changed to ensure a better fit. And now you can also benefit from the brand new Shoei Personal Fitting System (PFS).
It is now ECE 22-06 approved. In addition Shoei has worked hard to improve on the earlier model particularly in the areas of ventilation and quietness.
So the venting is improved on the new model. Both the brow and the chin vents are now two-position vents giving you more options than just open and closed.
The internal sun visor is deeper than the previous version so there is no possibility of seeing the bottom of the sun visor in your eyeline as there was previously.
The visor now has a central locking position and does require a two movement opening much as the new Shoei NXR 2 does. This is part of the new legislation but won't be liked by everyone and may need some practise with a thickly gloved hand.
The chin strap is thinner and softer to aid comfort (without compromising strength) and still comes with a ratchet system although the new one is a little less bulky than the old.
In terms of noise, the cheek pads have been extended at the back so there should be less chance for air ingress around the neck. In addition the integrated comms unit, the Sena SRL-03, has been made narrower and the switching at the side has been modified. These issues all to do with making less turbulence and therefore less noise.
The flip front closes more tightly and again this should reduce noise.
Comes with a 120 Pinlock as standard.

Adrian: Shoei Neotec 3
I chose a Shoei because my previous helmet was a Shoei RF-SR full face helmet size Medium. That helmet fit me very well and I was sure the medium size in the Neotec 3 would fit. I was right, it is also a very good fit. I dont know why I havent had a modular or flip-lid helmet before. It is so much more convenient, especially putting on and taking off. I dont even have to remove my glasses if Im careful. Along with the fit is the fit n-finish quality of the Shoei. I am impressed with the construction, mechanics, and ease of removing and installing the padding. The mechanism for removing and installing the face shield is different from the RF-SR model, but I think I have fiddled with it enough to get it on and off. The chin curtain is not vented and no air can enter through this pathway like on the RF-SR. This is both good and potentially bad. Good in that no air noise enters here, but no additional ventilation either. The face shield latch is relatively easy to use once youve done it a few times. I am very pleased with this helmet and glad that Iconsidered staying with a Shoei.
John: New helmet
Got a Neotec 3 it is quieter and lighter than the Neotec 2 and the shell is slightly smaller. Also got the sena SRL 3 and had to come back to Motolegends a week later as this analogue old codger trying to make his way in this digital world could not pair the phone and sat nav to the headset which they did in a couple of minutes good service.
