Summer Motorcycle Jackets
When the temperature hits the high 20s centigrade it is normally time to find a jacket without a waterproof membrane. Basically, any jacket with a waterproof membrane is likely to prove to hot in even the UK summer. Even with vents, the waterproof membrane acts as a windproof membrane and will stop the breeze reaching (and cooling) the body.
We stock a variety of non-waterproof motorcycling jackets from a single A rated mesh jacket suitable for urban riding to something like the AA rated Klim Marrakesh jacket which can be worn touring the world (or just the county)! In truth there are now three varieties of Klim jacket that are suitable for the very highest temperatures offering airflow and protection. New for 2025, there are now two Rukka jackets that are right up there in competition to Klim.
Of course, the majority of leather jackets also do not have a waterproof membrane (although a few do) but they are not necessarily the most breathable option for the very hottest weather.
What is a good summer motorcycle jacket?
In our view, the best summer motorcycle jacket does not have a waterproof membrane. But, you must also have impact protection and abrasion resistance. So, a jacket that breathes well needs to be made from a technical fabric so that it still have protective qualities. The best armour is a soft and pliable armour which can breathe and new for 2025 D3O Diablo definitely helps on this score.

Belstaff Tamar jacket in black
Really impressed with the Belstaff Tamar. Its comfortable, stylish, offers excellent protection, and has quickly become my go-to jacket. The airflow is the standout features for me. Once youre on the move, the ventilation works really well and keeps me cool and comfortable, even on hot summer rides. I opted for the D3O Viper Air Level 2 back protector, which fits perfectly and adds extra reassurance without affecting comfort. The sizing was spot on. I ordered my usual size Large, 40-inch chest, and theres still enough room to comfortably wear my Belstaff down jacket underneath on cooler days without the jacket feeling tight or restrictive. The Tamar feels exceptionally well made, with the premium quality and attention to detail youd expect from Belstaff. As always, the service from Motolegends was excellent.
Halvarssons Arvika jacket in dark grey
Appreciate that you included this mesh jacket in your video review and for me the best value along with excellent protection I didn't see the added value for the very expensive Marrakesh
Klim Marrakesh jacket in cool grey
I have the Klim Marrakesh jacket and the Rukka Air Vihti jackets. I also have two bikes one for commuting into London and the other to go on tour like the bikes use them for different purposes . Both the jackets are very good the Klim IMO very slightly more airflow and definitely less bulky and is the more comfortable jacket casual jacket to use in town . Its quality fit and ability to wear to and from meetings with jeans suits no longer used these days - The air flow is great and I have upgraded the protection and sometimes I take out the back protection and use a plasma 5 airbag which also works. In the hottest weather heatwave I did have a period wondering if I should have bought the Klim induction but over 25 to about 32 degrees is great . The jacket coupled with a windbreaker for colder mornings also works. The folks @ motolegends again have provided great service and advice.
