Summer Motorcycle Jackets

When the temperature hits the high 20s centigrade it is normally time to find a jacket without a waterproof membrane. Basically, any jacket with a waterproof membrane is likely to prove to hot in even the UK summer. Even with vents, the waterproof membrane acts as a windproof membrane and will stop the breeze reaching (and cooling) the body.

We stock a variety of non-waterproof motorcycling jackets from a single A rated mesh jacket suitable for urban riding to something like the AA rated Klim Marrakesh jacket which can be worn touring the world (or just the county)! In truth there are now three varieties of Klim jacket that are suitable for the very highest temperatures offering airflow and protection. New for 2025, there are now two Rukka jackets that are right up there in competition to Klim.

Of course, the majority of leather jackets also do not have a waterproof membrane (although a few do) but they are not necessarily the most breathable option for the very hottest weather.

What is a good summer motorcycle jacket?

In our view, the best summer motorcycle jacket does not have a waterproof membrane. But, you must also have impact protection and abrasion resistance. So, a jacket that breathes well needs to be made from a technical fabric so that it still have protective qualities. The best armour is a soft and pliable armour which can breathe and new for 2025 D3O Diablo definitely helps on this score.

Klim Marrakesh jacket in teak brown

LT: Not a lot more to add

I dont think I can add much to what Chris has already been said about this jacket. Its comfortable, flows a load of air and its stylish. I wish I had bought one years ago. Very pleased with the purchase.

Wayne: Better fit than Klim

I have had two Klim Marrakesh jackets, they are great except a good fit for me is somewhere between M and L sizes. I used them anyway as they are great jackets. However, I took delivery of this new Belstaff Tamar last week, the larger range of sizes has ensured I have now got a jacket that fits perfectly, and has all the benefits of the Marrakesh, and is super comfortable. It is a XL, and it compares roughly with an L in the Klim Marrakesh sizing. As a bonus, it is also considerably more stylish than the Marrakesh.

Belstaff Tamar jacket in black

Paul K: Better fit than a Marrakesh

I always fancied a Klim Marrakesh but their sizing just didnt work for me. The small was way too tight and the medium was huge. In addition, I am 5 6 so the Marrakesh was also too long as well. Enter the Belstaff Tamar - I ordered this in a medium and it is perfect for my height and 39 ish chest. To me the fabric is pretty much the same as the Marrakesh but it comes with Diablo armour too, which is definitely an improvement over the Ghost L1 stuff you get on the Klim. As far as styling goes, I definitely prefer the more urban style of the Tanar too. Great jacket and excellent service from ML, as always - 1010
