Adventure motorcycle helmets
An adventure motorcycle helmet is, at its simplest, a road helmet with a peak and a longer, more pronounced nose. It’s designed to straddle the line between road and off‑road riding - perfectly capable on tarmac, but with features that make sense once the surface gets looser or the riding more physical.
The benefits are fairly straightforward. The peak can be genuinely useful when riding into a low sun, and the extended chin section often improves airflow, which helps in warmer conditions or when you’re riding off road and working harder. Most adventure helmets can be worn with either a visor or goggles, giving a degree of flexibility that a conventional road helmet doesn’t offer.
That said, an adventure helmet isn’t automatically the right choice - even if you ride an adventure bike. They’re often noisier than a traditional full‑face or flip‑front helmet, and the peak can introduce drag or vibration at motorway speeds. If most of your riding is on the road, a conventional touring helmet may well be the better option.
Right now, the benchmark adventure helmet is the Arai Tour‑X5 - the first of the major players to achieve ECE 22‑06 certification in this category. We also stock Shoei, Klim, Schuberth and Scorpion adventure helmets, each offering a slightly different balance of weight, ventilation and versatility.

FAQs
What makes an adventure helmet different from a standard road helmet?
An adventure helmet combines features of both road and off‑road lids. It typically has a peak to help shade your eyes from low sun and more ventilation for hotter or more exertive riding. The extended chin section also allows better airflow and makes it easier to pair with goggles. However, this design can be a little noisier on long motorway rides compared with traditional road helmets.
Do I need an adventure helmet if I ride an adventure bike?
Not necessarily. If most of your riding is on sealed roads, a conventional flip-up or full‑face helmet may be quieter and more comfortable. Adventure helmets shine when you leave the tarmac, their peak and ventilation help with sun glare, airflow and working harder off‑road. For mixed riding, they’re a versatile choice, but they aren’t essential unless your riding regularly includes off‑road terrain.
What are the top adventure helmet options available at Motolegends?
Motolegends stocks a curated range of adventure helmets from leading brands. The Arai Tour‑X5 is a standout choice, being one of the first major adventure lids to meet the tougher ECE 22‑06 safety standard. You’ll also find quality options from Shoei, Klim, Schuberth, and Scorpion, each offering a slightly different balance of features, ventilation, weight and comfort. The team can help you choose based on your riding style and fit preferences.

Klim X1 Alpha helmet in carbon matt black
Superb helmet, very comfortable with wind noise at a very acceptable level. Although its cool at the moment the vents seem to flow plenty of air. It slices through the air very well indeed with absolutely no buffeting or drag from the peak. In fact you would hardly know it had a peak. Sizing is spot on with a firm but comfortable fit.
Scorpion ADF 9000 helmet in pearl white
Straight out of the box and Motolegends and Scorpion have done it again. I have another Scorpion lid. This is quality kit. The features are for the real bikers world while wearing a comfy lid. Its exceptional value for money. Go on buy one!
Arai Tour-X5 helmet in Diamond black
Replaced an X-4 and was immediately impressed with the fit, vision and comfort. On the road, Im not getting the buffeting from the visor but couldnt honestly say it was any quieter. Airflow is good but visor does not seem to lock in up position like the old one did. On the whole, excellent.
